If you have Salesforce for Twitter installed, you can use its fields to trigger campaigns in Marketo.  One great use for this is to target campaigns at users of social media applications. Install the app: First, you need to install the Salesforce for Twitter AppExchange package -- it's free!  It takes some effort to install, so make sure you follow the instructions carefully [pdf]. As part of the installation, the package adds a new field to your account called "Twitter Username."  When you create or associate a lead with Twitter via the app, the Twitter Username is updated.  Follow the instructions with the Salesforce for Twitter app to learn how to do that. Once you've gone through the steps of setting up your leads' and contacts' Twitter usernames, any new tweets they make will be added to a Twitter Conversation. Syncing the Twitter Conversations: Now you'll need to sync the Twitter Conversations object for your leads and contacts. Back in Marketo, go to the Salesforce page in the Admin section and open the Sync Object tab. Click the Refresh Schema button to reload your custom Salesforce objects. After your schema reloads, click the Twitter Conversation object under Lead on the right. Click on it's name in the center of the screen and rename it to Twitter Conversation (L). Click Save when you're done. Now click Enable Sync in the menu bar. A dialog will appear asking you to temporarily disable your Salesforce sync. Click Disable Global Sync. We'll re-enable this when finished. In the next dialog, click Enable Sync to start syncing this object into Marketo. Next, click on the Edit Visible Fields button. In the dialog that appears, find the sf4twitter__Content__c field and check the Trigger box for that row. When you're done, click Save. Repeat the process for your Contact objects, renaming the object to Twitter Conversation (C)and enabling the sf4twitter__Content__c field in your trigger, as you did for the Lead version above. When you're finished, go to the Salesforce tab and click Enable Sync. Scoring tweets In the Marketing Activites tab, create a new Smart Campaign to score your tweets. In the Smart List, trigger on Added to Twitter Conversation (L) and add a constraint Content contains [your company name].  Do the same for Added to Twitter Conversation (C) In the flow, you can take any action you'd like, such as sending an alert or creating an interesting moment. In this example, we'll give the lead +5 points to their lead score: In the schedule tab, set the campaign to run every time. When you're done, activate the campaign From now on, any tweet from a lead or contact containing your company name will be scored.

Issue Description What happens when you enable "Send all Tout emails in my team through this server connection" within the SMTP Server settings on ToutApp.com Issue Resolution When you select "Send all Tout emails in my team through this server connection" within the Tout admin panel, this will provide the option to all standard users to either choose to use the ToutApp Email Servers or your company's own Email servers. If you decide to share the SMTP Settings with the team, t is recommended that you have your IT team setup a dedicated STMP/Email account to use as the Custom SMTP Credentials. Note: Each user can choose to either use the Tout servers or the configured & shared SMTP server. It is not applied automatically to all users.

Issue Description If the text is removed from the "Unsubscribe" text at the Admin level, will this immediately apply to every email in Marketing Activities or, will Marketo ask you to re-approve each email once this "Unsubscribe" text has officially been removed? Issue Resolution Title - Remove Unsubscribe Text From the"Admin - https://nation.marketo.com/docs/DOC-1114 If you remove the text at the Admin level (as per the documentation), this will immediately apply to all emails created (including: active, inactive). You are not required to re-approve your previously approved emails once this change has been saved in the Admin -> Email settings. All pre-existing emails will replace the default "Unsubscribe" text at the bottom of all emails, after changes have been saved in Admin -> Email settings.  After removing the default "Unsubscribe" text from emails, you should replace it with a Custom Unsubscribe option.  This is in order to remain compliant with the Can-Spam Act.

Issue Person record's Activity Log shows repeat Company Name changes without any Data Value Change being logged.  In this example screenshot, we can see that the person had the Company Name set back to the correct value by the CRM sync, but there is no record of the Company Name being changed in the first place. This is a article attached image Environment Person records showing the change are all part of the same Account. One person on that holding Account fills out a form that updates the field "Company Name" to a value that is different from the Account Name CRM sync corrects the Company Name field back to Account Name Solution STEPS TO RESOLVE: 1. Find the lead that change the Company Name field on the account with a Smart List filter:      DATA VALUE CHANGED     Attribute: Company Name     New Value: [Company Name from form fill-out]     Previous Value: [Account Name] This is a article attached image 2. Locate the Data Value Change in the Activity Log 3. Check the date and time of the Data Value Change 4. Check that timeframe on other affected records 5. The timeframe of the Data Value Change back to the Account Name will approximately match the timeframe of the logged Data Value Change, showing that the update to the one person was the cause of the update for all others on that account.   Root Cause Marketo uses Company Name as the identifier for the Account object.  If you have multiple people on the account and one of them changes the Company Name via a form fill-out, the Company Name is changed for all other people on that Account.  This change happens on the back end, so you will not see it until the CRM changes it back to the correct value in the next sync cycle.

Issue When editing the expiration date for a user in Admin by completely removing the expiration date set to null and clicking save. The change is not saved, and the expiration date remain. Environment Expired Date for user Expiration Date Changing the expire date to never in Admin   Solution There are two options: 1. Change the expiration date to a date in the future.  2. Delete the user in Admin and recreate the user again and set the expiration to never.  *Please note that if option 2 is selected, the history of the user is will be lost and this cannot be retrieved. Issue Does applying a permission set to the Marketo Sync User in Salesforce suffice for limiting the number of fields to sync from Salesforce to Marketo? or will the profile need to be updated directly? Solution In order to limit the visibility of fields for the Marketo Sync User in Salesforce, the profile will need to be directly edited (example: Add an Existing Salesforce Field to the Marketo Sync - Marketo Docs - Product Documentation) Root Cause Since the profile has access to a field, the Marketo Sync User will still have access to the field even though a permission set applied to the profile does not have access to the same field. When using Marketo it is not a requirement to set up DNS text records for SPF and DKIM.  However, Marketo recommends setting up SPF and DKIM because it improves the deliverability of your mailings.  Configuring and implementing one or both of these records is a way to verify that the server sending your mail is authorized to do so.   If a recipient domain is configured to check for SPF and/or DKIM and those DNS records are available and your mail passes the SPF/DKIM check, it further reinforces its good reputation.  Not implementing SPF/DKIM records does not add to or subtract from its reputation, it’s just not there.   Please note, not all domains check for SPF/DKIM and if this is the case, again, the presence of these records does not add or subtract from your mail’s deliverability. There is no negative effect to setting up these records, and it can improve your deliverability.  It is for these reasons that Marketo recommends setting up these DNS records and configuring their use in your instance of Marketo.   For more information on how to set up and configure SPF/DKIM, please read our KB article here.

Included in this article   Overview Troubleshooting Steps Overview If you have multiple workspaces in your Marketo Instance, your campaigns and smart lists may not pull the leads you would expect. If a lead partition is not visible to the workspace you are working in, there's no way for the smart list to "see" those leads in that partition. For more information about Workspaces and Partitions, check out Understanding Workspaces and Person Partitions     Troubleshooting Steps To resolve this, you need to enable access for the specific lead partition to the workspace you are working in. This makes sure the workspace can "see" the leads and get them into your smart list or campaign results.   1. Under Admin, click on Workspaces & Partitions.   2. Select your Workspace and click Edit Workspace.       3. Edit the workspace and add check marks for all partitions that this workspace should be able to access.       4. Click the Save button. Your campaigns should now be able to access the leads in that partition and reflect the leads expected.

Issue Field labels on a form have been updated, however, they are not displaying on the Marketo Landing Page, even though the Marketo Form and Marketo Landing Page has been approved since the update. Solution The reason why it appears the updated field labels are not displaying on the Marketo Landing Page is that the field labels that are being displayed are not the field labels that were edited. The field labels that are being displayed is what is defined in the Visibility Rules of the fields. To ensure that the updated field label is displayed on the Marketo Landing Page, the field label in the Visibility Rules must also be updated https://docs.marketo.com/display/public/DOCS/Dynamically+Toggle+Visibility+of+a+Form+Field

Issue Issue Description When adding a new field to MSD Custom Object sync, the field just reports Fieldname(syncing...) and never actually syncs.     Solution Issue Resolution The current workaround would involve the following:  Disable the native sync.  Disable the object sync in the custom entity because that will drop the table entirely in the database.  Then, re-enable the sync for the custom object, including all field to sync and use for filter and triggers to recreate the table in the database.  This should sync all of the fields including the new one.   Who This Solution Applies To Customers with MS Dynamics

Issue Issue Description When validating the HTML of a template, you receive an error of 'Error: Nested Editable Element: ...' with the id of the element following causing you to not be able to approve the template.   Solution Issue Resolution This is due to having an element with a 'mkto...' class nested inside another element with a 'mkto...' class. Below is an example:    <div class="mktEditable">      <div class="mktEditable"></div> </div>   You will need to remove the 'mkto...' class reference from one of the elements to be able to pass validation and approve the draft as in the corrected example below:    <div class="mktEditable">      <div class="newClassName"></div> </div>

Issue You want to delete an Email Template but that template was used to create existing emails in your instance.     Solution It is not possible to delete an Email Template that is in use by emails in your Marketo instance, even if those emails are not approved.  If you wish to delete the template, you will need to first delete the emails that use it.  You can find these in the Used By tab in the template's information.  Alternately, you can break the connection between the email and the template, which would allow you to keep the email but delete the template.

Issue When you add variables to your email template assets, the value assigned to that variable is not showing in the text-only version of the email even though it shows in the HTML version. Solution Email 2.0 variables do not pass the defined values for variables through to the text-only email. Since Marketo token values are passed through to the text-only email, customers may expect variable values to also be passed through to text-only emails. However, this is not currently the case.

Issue Acquisition Program is not being assigned when a new lead is created by filling out a form associated with a program.  Environment Form embedded in a non-Marketo web page Solution In order for a program to be assigned as the acquisition program, the form and landing page both have to be child assets of the program. If the form is embedded on an external page, Marketo has no way to associate the form fill out with that specific program. You can either use a trigger campaign that looks for the form fill out and assigns the Acquisition Program through a Data Value Change flow step, or put the form on a Marketo landing page within the program.
