I guess it just depends on the day of the week... our company has taken major strides to align not just sales and marketing but all of our customer facing teams. We have incorporated weekly funnel meetings where everyone gets in either a room or on a call and discuss just that, the funnel. We discuss what Marketing is contributing and bringing to the table, previous campaigns that worked and upcoming ones.  Sales reports on all opportunities created and closed - what they are seeing in the field from a competition stand point and what tools they are needing to assist in selling. I agree! Some of the options were vastly different than what is recognized in the industry. Change is always great and whatever is decided will be well received, I just hope you don't shy away from what made you Marketo in the first place. Everything mentioned above is fantastic and completely on point! One item or tip that I think is a must have is an email launch checklist. Whether it is creating a new program or just sending a one off email, having a checklist to go through prior to launching (ensuring the To and From fields are correct, or making sure your not blasting the whole company with the 5,000+ out of office replies) will save you a lot of time, anxiety, and those cute dog oopsy emails you have to send out for the wrong content. Have you used Marketo Calendar? You can create one event with all of the follow up nurturing and wait times in between each post. Once the program is approved you can clone the program which will keep the time frames anchored (ex. if you want emails to be sent out every three days -this will still be the case) and just approve to launch again. It is also beneficial because you can see all of your events taking place in one location. ... View more

Question are the time zones you cater too fields in Salesforce? You could almost set up smart campaigns and have them filtered by time zones. Then you could add wait steps to ensure all emails are sent out at the correct times for the specific time zones. ... View more

In the beginning we set processes and safe nets in place to ensure we were not over communicating with our people. Before any nurturing campaigns, newsletters, or sales emails were sent the Sales and Marketing teams sat down to create the approved number of touch points per individual per week and we settled on 3. During our nurturing process (top of funnel) we created specific lead statuses that correlated with each department - so if a lead was in a nurturing status Sales would not communicate with the individual. However if the individual reached a new working status or sales changed them to a status the individual would automatically be removed from our marketing nurturing communications.  We took the same methods on the back end and created different stages for communications between the two departments. The most important step we took though was to ensure all forms of communication would integrate into Salesforce our CRM system. From there we run activity reports to see how many times we have reached out to an individual and review these in our weekly funnel meetings. We also set perimeters and alerts that email the teams to let us know if we have gone over our limits of communication for the week. Hope this helps! Brittany ... View more

Hi Reza, Just wanted to confirm something - The other group you are referring to cloned your program in order to put it in the nurture campaign they are working in correct? That is the only way you can have two of the same programs in different nurture programs. If that is the case then you removing the program from your stream shouldn't impact their reporting. You can have the same email names, report names, and list names, but because it is in a different program they are actually pulling different information. EX - Program One's name is Breather Nurture and assets are email, thank you, and webinar. These would then be tied to the breather funnel as BreatherNurture.Email Program Two uses the same assets but is called Retarget Nurture thus the assets are now tied to this funnel differently.
