Issue Issue Description When syncing records between Marketo and Dynamics, an error is received of "Marketo is unable to update the following records in Microsoft Dynamics" due to "A record was not created or updated because a duplicate of the current record already exists".   Solution Issue Resolution The reason for that error is due to custom de-duplication rules set up in Dynamics, specifically when Marketo inserts a lead record or updates lead and contact records. There are a couple ways this issue can be addressed: 1) Your team can review the custom de-dupe rules in Dynamics and open them up so Marketo can insert/update records. We recommend this step first! 2) There is a Support tool that will allow suppression of the de-duplication rules set up in Dynamics for the sync user. With this tool, the sync user will be able to insert leads for the first time or updating a lead or contact. This process isn't typically recommended as a first step because it can lead to duplicate records being created, but if you'd like the suppression enabled, please reach out to Marketo support with the details of your request. Issue An update made in the CRM is taking longer than expected to sync to Marketo via the usual sync cycle. You need to avoid this for some of the data being passed between the two systems.     Solution Some delay in the sync is expected. It all depends on the current sync status, as well as how much data is being synced.   One possible workaround  would be to use API calls to push data into Marketo immediately. To make API calls into Marketo, you'll need to do the following Create an API Only User Role Create an API Only User Create a Custom Service for Use with ReST API   From there, you will be able to create API calls from your CRM and access API endpoints with this user to make updates in Marketo.  This method can also be used to sync data between Marketo and unsupported or custom CRMs.  Note: You will need to work with a developer to create the API calls.  Marketo Support are not trained as developers, so if you need assistance creating your API calls, you will need to work with Marketo Professional Services instead.

Issue Issue Description When adding a new field to MSD Custom Object sync, the field just reports Fieldname(syncing...) and never actually syncs.     Solution Issue Resolution The current workaround would involve the following:  Disable the native sync.  Disable the object sync in the custom entity because that will drop the table entirely in the database.  Then, re-enable the sync for the custom object, including all field to sync and use for filter and triggers to recreate the table in the database.  This should sync all of the fields including the new one.   Who This Solution Applies To Customers with MS Dynamics

Issue Lead conversion/qualification through workflows in Microsoft Dynamics CRM resulting to duplicates (i.e. Lead and Contact) in Marketo Environment Microsoft Dynamics CRM Lead conversion Sync Solution While lead qualification through workflows is currently not supported, one approach that we saw implemented by a customer that did not result in duplicates is by redeveloping the lead qualification workflow using the msdyncrmWorkflowTools (1.0.54.0): QualifyLead step. Dynamics-365-Workflow-Tools/Qualify Lead.md at master · demianrasko/Dynamics-365-Workflow-Tools This was verified to result in no duplicates as the workflow writes the "Create [Qualify Lead]' operation type to the Marketo Log which is like the standard qualify button. Should there be any further assistance needed in developing the lead conversion workflow, it's recommended to engage with our Professional Services / Consulting team Root Cause Marketo's integration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM currently does not support custom qualify workflows.

Issue You are experiencing slow processing of campaigns, smart lists, and reports.     Solution There are three key components that can slow down an instance: Number of trigger campaigns: Trigger campaigns are always on, always listening.  If there are 50 campaigns triggering at the same time, all the 50 triggers will be in queue, slowing down your processing and routing inside Marketo. Solution: Reduce the number of Triggers. Convert some of the triggers to batches: Batches also run all the flow steps for every lead at once, instead of serially, which reduces total processing time.   Complexity of smart lists: The more complex a smart list, the harder it is for the system to figure it out, which increases backend processing and even creates campaign failures from timeouts. Solution: Reduce the number of nested smart lists called in a smart list. Whenever you ask Marketo to call another Smart List, it has to wait until all of the other smart lists finish, before putting together the final counts. Instead of Marketo looking for the list and running it, just put the filters in the trigger itself.   Volume of Leads: With regular cleaning and good systems design, it is fairly easy to keep your system running fast. Reduce the number of leads that can flow through with filters. Clean up the inactive leads at regular intervals.

Our sync employs a field level conflict resolution mechanism. For a particular record, if field X is updated in Microsoft Dynamics CRM and field Y is updated in Marketo, then we will update Marketo with the new value for field X and Microsoft Dynamics CRM with the new value for field Y.  In the case where the same field is updated on both systems for a particular record with a short period of time, we will choose the Marketo value as the winner for Leads and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM value as the winner for Contacts.
