Thanks Benjamin. So should I remove the Trigger "Email is Delivered" and the Date of Activity? Or just remove the "Date of Activity" If so, what trigger would you suggest I use? I have changed the transition rule to exclude records with Lifecycle status of Account so they are allowed to go through the flow and get paused. If I were to use a separate Smart campaign or nested Program, how would you recommend I do that?

I've created an engagement program where we send leads a different email each week that have a Lifecycle Status of Outreach. Outreach are leads that have shown an interest in our service but have not become a customer yet. If anytime while in the engagement program stream their Lifecycle Status changes from Outreach to Account, they should be removed or paused in the next stream and not receive any further content. We import new leads and updated lead each week to update leads that have changed from Outreach to Account which should pause/remove them from the next stream. The problem I'm having, is I keep getting future streams after I have changed the Lifecycle status from Outreach to Account, and we do not want to include new accounts in the streams meant to engage leads. I import a test email in to the engagement program with the Outreach status, and after the first or second stream is emailed, I change the Lifecycle status from Outreach to Account. But I keep getting included in future streams. Not sure if I am missing something or have something wrong, but in theory the way I have set up the smart lists and flows the streams should pause a lead who's Lifecycle status has change. Hopefully someone can tell me what I am missing.

Thanks Bryan. We actually do have those parameters as hidden fields on our forms. But the problem is, the forms are on our website are not a Marketo landing page and do not have the url parameters, so the hidden fields do not track the source or medium. Since these forms are on a form on our website with no url parameters, I’ve created a SL and Flow with “Change Data Value” to update a leads medium and source FT’s, MT’s and LT’s. Would that be considered a best practice? I guess my initial question is, are forms on a website for gated content considered FT, MT or LT’s? If they collect a leads information, if a lead fills out these forms, would that be considered a FT, MT or LT?

Thanks Gursimran. When I was testing I was basing it on the last 15 minutes, just so I wouldn’t have to wait 7 days to see if the test worked. I tested again yesterday and changed the time frame to 2 days and “NOT IN’ program and it worked. I did not fill out the 2nd form for the 2nd offer and I did receive the email for the 3rd offer.

If a lead visits our website, still as anonymous, but then fills out a form on our website for gated content, would this firsts form fill out be considered a Campaign FT? Their Medium and Source Detail Ft would be website and organic, but trying to keep data consistent, does it make sense to also track a form fill out on our website for gated content as a Campaign FT. We have a lot of leads that have filled out these forms, and since these forms our hosted outside of Marketo, the leads Medium, Source Detail and Campaign data is not tracked. If filling out a form on our website for gated content is not considered a FT, what are examples of a leads FT?

Thanks Gursimran. That is exactly what I have with one exception, filter 3 in the Smart List. I tested the filter with NOT IN Smart List and it did not include me in the group to send the offer for the 3rd form. But when I changed filter 3 to IN Smart List, it included me in the Smart List and did send me offer for the 3rd form.

Hi Gursimran, Form 1 is a form a lead will fill out for gated content on our website. After they fill out form 1 from the website, we send them an email to fill out form 2 for another content offer. If the lead does not fill out form 2 within 7 days, we then want to send them another email to fill out form 3 for a product demo. Does that help?

Since you want to send the reminder email to people who downloaded the 1st form but not 2nd form after 7 days I don’t want to send the reminder email to people that downloaded the 1st form. I want to send the reminder email to people that DID NOT download the 1st form. If that is the case, then shouldn’t the “Member of Smart List” be Person – In – smart list name?

Thanks again Gursimran. I figured it out the smart list logic after I sent my message. But one question I do have is regarding Filter 3 in the Smart list campaign. Member of Smart list – Person: Not In, program xxxxx Shouldn’t Filter 3 Member of list say Person: In, program xxxx? If it says “Not In”, wouldn’t that send the email to everyone that is not part of that smart list logic, which would be everyone in our database? I only want to send the second email to leads that did not fill out that specific form during the specific time frame. Or am I not understanding something in Filter 3.

Thank you Gursimran. When you say create another smart list logic, do you mean I have to create another campaign with this logic? So if my second campaign to send the second email offer is 02-Second offer, as an example, I should create another campaign called 03-Second Offer excludes? Looking at your screen shots I’m not exactly sure where to create this other logic.

Thanks Gursimran, that worked. But one problem, I tested not filling out the first form from the first offer, and since I did not fill out the form, I did receive the second email, but so did everyone in our database. How do I set up the SL and Flow so that only leads that have entered this program receive the second email if the form from the first offer was not filled out?

We are setting up kind of a nurture campaign where if a lead fills out a form, we send them an email with an offer to download another piece of content by filling out a form. If the lead does not fill out this form, another email is sent 7 days later offering a product demonstration. The problem I am having is getting the second email to send correctly within the time frame of 7 days. I currently have a filter for the form if it is not filled out, but only having a filter makes the SL a batch campaign but we want it to be a trigger, but I'm not sure which trigger to use that will send the second email in 7 days if the form from the first email is not filled out. My current SL and Flow is:

Thanks Sanford, that worked. I have a question regarding removing the FOF filter. The reason we had that filter in place is so we don't send multiple alert emails to sales for the same lead within 60 days if they have filled out another certain form. There are certain forms that leads fill out that sends a different email alert to sales that we do not want going through this smart campaign. If a lead fills out one of these certain forms, we do not want sales to receive multiple email alerts for the same lead the same day,week or month, which is why we were filtering those form fills out in the past 60 days. Would it be correct to remove the FOF filter as you recommended and create it as a trigger? Would that have the same effect? Are there any problems with the trigger? Our end result is to not send multiple alert emails to sales for the same lead within 60 days.

It shows scoring for what I have done, but does not show any activity regarding the Lifecycle Status. Almost as if, when I test, I'm getting blocked from moving from the smart list to the flow.

We've set up a lifecycle program that when a new lead is created their lifecycle status is changed from null to MQL, but I've noticed that the lifecycle is not updating leads lifecycle status when they are created from null to MQL. Thanks Josh, the way you see it set up is how it was set up previously, which I don’t believe is working correctly. As for, if this is something our legal counsel as advised, no, my manager wants it that way. Reason being, we currently have a grey area where leads have not explicitly opted in or out, and he wants it so if leads opt out, they equal unsubscribe. He wants leads to be either opted in or unsubscribed, this way we know the leads that are receive our emails are only opted-in. What is your website? I don’t see a link for it.

For lead that uncheck the opt-in box, meaning they are opting-out to receive emails from us, we want their unsubscribe = true. Opposite side, if a lead comes back and re-opts-in, we want their unsubscribe = false. I've tried many scenarios to get this to work with no success. In our instance, we have a folder for Subscription Management, and then campaigns for, with double opt-in and without double opt-in. Am I able to set this process up within one of the current campaigns? Or do I need to create separate campaigns for this process to correctly opt-in/subscribed, opt-out/unsubscribed leads? Thank you Sanford. If I change the box-sizing from initial to content-box, that will resolve how IE renders the form? What is the difference between initial and content box? When would you use “initial” vs “content-box”? Will replacing “initial” with “content-box” cause any problems with other programs where this landing page is being used? Will changing “initial” to “content-box” change how the form renders on other browsers, Chrome, Safari, Firefox?

Have an issue with Internet Explorer changing the format of our forms on landing pages. I've come across a number of conversations on the community but all seem to be 2-4 years old. Does anyone know why or how to get IE to render forms on a landing page like Chrome and Firefox. Thank you, so with the way the flow is set up, according to your recommendation for the trigger, I should be able to track and store the CSV style like your example above? Will that history be included on the alert email that goes to our sales team? Or since our CRM is not integrated I am still only limited to last interesting moment. I believe that is what was said previously. As for the velocity script, is this all I have to do: Am I in the right spot for using a velocity token? Am I getting these my.tokens confused with velocity tokens?

Thanks Sanford, I think I almost have this. I've created a text area field called Interesting Moment History. Is this how the flow should look: For the new value I have: {{system.dateTime}}: Filled Out Form: {{trigger.Name}}{{my.linebreak}}{{lead.Interesting Moment History}}, is that right I'm still a little confused about what a Velocity token is. Is that a token I would create at the program level? Based on the {{my.....} it looks like a token I would create at the program level, but I'm going to guess that isn't right.

Thanks everyone for your insights. Dan, I actually came across that thread and presentation from last years summit when I was searching IM's, too bad I missed it. The text area that Sanford and Trevor reference, is that something that would appear on the alert email? In order for the last interesting moment to appear on our alert email, would I just follow your setup from the thread? Here is an example of our current set up: Text area field is that field I would add to our alert email so the last interesting moment will appear? And is it also a token I would create, {{lead.Shminteresting Shmoment}} What would the value be then? As for the velocity script for outputting, is that a token I would set up? How would I set that token up to output the interesting moment? Is appending the history field a flow, like in Dan's example?

Thanks again Trevor for the information. Well, CRM is a bit of tricky subject. Our CRM is Microsoft Dynamics, which I believe can be integrated with Marketo, but the problem is that the Microsoft Dynamics CRM has been so customized, we can’t even get the new updates for Microsoft Dynamics, which leaves us almost unable to integrate with it. Based on this info, would it be wrong to assume that with our current situation, the best I will be able to do with IM is list the leads last IM on the alert email? Hi Trevor, we are looking to have IM’s included on an alert email that goes to our sales team. So when our sales team receives the alert email about a new lead or scored so many points to become a SQL, sales will see either a small history of the leads IM’s or the leads last IM. This way our sales team would have an idea of the leads activity. Thanks Sanford. Just based on what I have been reading through the community about this topic, it seemed, in order to get the most out of IM, it needs to be synched to CRM. We do have MSI so I do see we have IM’s, but not currently running IM’s. We are looking to start using them and I’m trying to get the best understanding I can about IM’s so we can take full advantage of them.
