Are you using Sales Insight? If you do, you can see the emails that were sent to the individual lead or contact in the Sales Insight section of the layout, under the last tab. There you can also see, whether that email was opened or clicked on.
The trigger is called "Lead has been created".

Hi David:Are you dragging this onto the email as you see it, or do you have the editor open at that time?You can't just drop it on the email as you see it. You can only drag it into the open editor.Hope this helps!

I havent't tested it, but don't think this could work.Anchors don't reference anything outside of the email client.
