My blog has an RSS feed, and I would like for anyone who registers for my blog via the RSS form to receive an operational email thanking them (and linking to a few other things).
Any ideas how best to set this up?
This sounds pretty basic.
Smart List = Filled out Form
Flow Action = Send Email
Unless, I'm missing some information that would be a huge caveat as to why the above logic wouldn't work. For example, is your form not a Marketo form? If not, please share this kind of information.
You should get Digesto (or similar tool) to process RSS feeds to subscribers.
For your immediate need:
I would seriously question if you should use Operational Email here because most sign ups are email only for blogs. They opted in to the Blog Email, not some follow up advertisement. If the follow up is for double opt in, then sure. Otherwise, be very careful.
Also, I just took a demo with Digesto - seems like definitely overkill. We'd only be interested in sending out 1 digest / month anyway, which breaks out to $250/digest. We could probably just make it ourselves for cheaper than that.
All we really want is a simple Marketo form that also works with RSS.
What's "an RSS form" exactly? A form signup and a direct RSS feed are usually mutually exclusive (the latter giving you no visibility into user behavior if they read everything offline).
I also don't see an overwhelming need to send RSS-to-email newsletters via Marketo, as long as you have other means of updating Marketo when people click links to posts (i.e. Munchkin associateLead). Yes, you lose true Click Link activities, but you catch up via Visit Web Page.
Like Sanford said, what is it you want to do with this RSS feed?
If you just want to send the follow up, make the Form double post - once to your feedburner and once to Marketo so you collect the lead.
