How to add a subscriber to a product list without triggering a welcome email

I am trying to find out the best way to solve this issue. We just recently found that one of the forms in our website didn't upload the new signups into Marketo. These people who signed up for a subscription product have remained for a month or two stuck and now we are trying to delicately re-engage the leads. We have come up with an email to send to them but we would like to formulate the smart campaign in such a way that it won't deploy the Welcome Letter email the moment we add them to the product Subscription. Generally once a new lead is added it changes the data value and they automatically receive a welcome email, in this case since its been a couple of months we don't want that to happen. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how we can add them to a subscription without them receiving an autoresponse welcome email?

You must've enabled a trigger Smart Campaign whose trigger is Data Value Changes.

So locate that SC in your Marketing Activities tree. You can add a filter to it so these people don't go through it (for example, constrain the trigger by source and/or reason).  If it's too difficult to distinguish your backfill from the usual flow, then you could just deactivate the SC for a sec.

If you add these people to a separate static list first, then you can add a choice to the "send email" step, and say "if member of [list], do nothing" as your first choice, default is send email.
