Welcome to the refreshed Champion Spotlight series, where we speak with one of our current Marketo Champions to learn more about their background, their favorite things to do in Marketo Engage, what they wanted to be when they grew up, and more! This time, we spoke with @Beth_Massura, who is an Associate Platform Operations Specialist at Etumos. Let's learn about Beth!
In high school I worked as a clerk in a bakery and as a children’s swim instructor.
About five years ago the marketing director wanted to replace our antiquated ESP (Email Service Provider) with something that would allow us to take advantage of new technologies and practices. I led the RFP (Request for Proposal) to select and implement a marketing automation platform, and we went with Marketo Engage. The interface was more user-friendly compared to some of the other solutions on the market at that time, and I was excited to learn a new digital marketing platform.
I actually enjoy instance organization and data cleanup tasks. Although this may not be apparent in my personal life, I find it satisfying to tidy up folders, programs and assets in a way that makes it easier for others to find things and understand what they’re for, and to get rid of useless clutter.
I’m proud of organizing stakeholders and getting appropriate programs in place before CASL and GDPR went into effect. It took a lot of research and coordination, but I thought it was important for an organization that had a global presence.
There is always more to learn. Not even the experts know absolutely everything about Marketo! Look for areas of the tool that you enjoy and develop your skills more deeply in those. The community is full of fellow users who are happy to share tips and point you in the right direction.
Everything from an artist to a zookeeper. Thankfully each day in Marketing Operations brings new challenges, so my hodgepodge of interests and skills may surprisingly come into play. (Coming up with creative solutions…herding cats…)
I can build family trees out of very little information using genetic genealogy techniques and record research. It’s a different type of problem solving.
