In the next few weeks, this will be changed so that any meta tags added to the template will be respected and populated when a user creates a new landing page. Just FYI
Just FYI, in the next few weeks we're releasing a change that will respect whatever tags you've defined in the LP template instead of overriding it when you create an individual LP from that template. Justin

Currently, the < > is only added if you've linked text in the HTML side. If you've typed a URL like http://www.marketo.com and have NOT made it an anchor tag, then the TEXT side will also just show http://www.marketo.com and it will be up the email clients what they choose to do with it on both HTML...
