Have you cleared your company field and it's still being populated by a form fill (where I'm assuming that you don't fill in your company name)? Agreed... if I went to the higher-ups and said that I could only report on the last 12 months of emails (we've only been implemented for 8 months), I think they'd be pretty annoyed. Our reports come out at a certain time of the year, and we will want to compare our email results year over year.

Patricia, also, sometimes you can be "email suspended" which is a 24 hour block that is usually done to prevent spamming, but can happen if you send yourself too many sample emails. You can find that field (but cannot "unsuspend" yourself) in your lead record.
