I amd kind of confused. Marketo automatically syncs with SFDC, and if I am telling the system to respond when some one is put into a campaign with a specific status then why would I sync the data back and forth like that? Also that seems way to complex of an answer I guess Ill just live with a batch...
I did try the added to first and it didn't work. It didn't even see when the test email was manually added, so I tried more triggers.
I would agree in this case we use a form that has paypal interaction so we upload the data manually into sales force under specific statuses. I wanted to automate the confirmation message as soon as it was complete.

In other words Marketo fails with smart lists. We can't use tokens and having 2 triggers causes problems. If I were to change the second trigger to a filter would that fix the issue?
