Just started doing the documentation, since we didn't have any that I was aware of when I started. Basically, I got tired of having to look up the same smart campaigns over and over and decided writing them down was easier, so definitely agree on that point Juli!
Documentation is absolutely critical. If people get promoted, move onto new roles, turn over, etc., retaining that institutional knowledge in the form of documentation is amazing. I've untangled the thought process of my predecessor enough over the course of my career... documentation is definitely a great best practice.

Good tips! Especially the marketing/sales alignment. Too many people forget about that when they start out with Marketo.

Documenting everything is an evergreen best practice indeed! I find it particularly useful to write it down to an internal guide, as well as storing these notes in the description fields of programs and campaigns.

These are all great tips Juli James. They're also all things I've had a hard time getting upper management to understand the importance of. I'll show your video to my manager to convince her that its worth the time to spend on all the things you mentioned!
Important things to remember. Not just documenting for existing team members but new hires and vendors who build for you.
These are good best practices for general marketing but they do not really relate to using Marketo do they??
