Hi Ashlegih! My goals for this program can be found below:
I am hoping to cover the following topics:
2. What do you want to get out of the program? I know the intent is to study and be ready to take the exam, but let's get SMART with our goals. What exactly are you looking for? Are you just hoping to pass the exam? Get a high mark on the exam? Venture outside of your comfort zone and implement something new in your instance?
At minimum, I want to pass the exam and learn more about the above topics, as they are hot topics within the team I work with. I am looking to implement more A/B testing for emails in my team and have a standard process for it as well. Being realistic with workload and how much time I am able to pledge to this program, this is how I view my SMART goal:
S - (Specific) : Pass the Expert exam
M - (Measurable) : Score at least a 38/50 (Knowing the pass score is 32/50)
A - (Attainable) : I was able to re-certify (Business Level Cert) with a near perfect score, making this the next step/level
R - (Relevant) : By attaining an Expert Certification, I will bring additional knowledge and expertise to my team
T - (Time Bound) : Pass Expert Exam by the end of the Mentorship program, Friday, June 28
Hi everyone!
My name is Brenda and I am a Marketing Operations Specialist. I have just under 3 years of experience in Marketo, being the one on my team to execute campaigns such as creating landing pages, emails, custom forms, engagement/nurture orchestration, and much more. I recently renewed my Marketo Engage Business Practitioner Professional certification and decided it was time to learn more to "level up" to be more of an asset to my team. I look forward to getting to know everyone more and diving into the content! 🙂
Hi @Brenda_1040 - Welcome and congrats on your newest certification! Looking forward to discussing some fun topics with you all.
Hi everyone!
My name is Steven, and I'm based in New York. I work at a tech startup and have been using Marketo a lot over the past three years, from migrating from Hubspot to Marketo to building out our lead scoring model and managing our email campaigns.
Looking forward to learning from and interacting with all of you the next several weeks!
Hi @stevenchung87 - Are you in the City? I am also in New York (upstate). Always fun to find connections "close" to me. Sounds like you already have some great experience under your belt. A migration is a great learning experience. I've gone through several in my years and it always keeps me on my toes (haha).
Hello @AshleighMo! Yes, I'm in the city! And likewise- it's always nice meeting people nearby, especially since most of the MUG/sessions I've engaged with have been west coast based.
Multiple MAP migrations is amazing! I definitely learned a lot in a very short amount of time during the migration process, but I think I'd be ok not having to go through that again haha.
Hello Ashleigh,
Hope you are doing well and It's a pleasure to connect with you online!
My name is Kamal Preet Singh, and I serve as a Tech Lead at Hogarth, a WPP company. Over the past four years, I've gained valuable experience utilizing Marketo for tasks such as Event Management, lead scoring, and Email Marketing on behalf of our clients.
I'm enthusiastic about participating in this Mentorship program as I believe it will further enhance my proficiency in Marketo.
Recently, I achieved Marketo professional certification, and I'm eager to pursue the Expert certification next.
Specifically, I'm keen to deepen my understanding of velocity scripting and CRM integrations through this program.
Thank you:)
Thank you for sharing @amolgunjal. I love that you provided some things you are looking to learn more about.
Hello Ashleigh, it’s great to have you as our mentor. I work as a Marketo Consultant at one of the big 4 firms in India. For quite some time, I’ve been struggling to use Velocity Script in my programs. Although I’ve used it in a very basic manner, I’m now aiming to minimize the number of emails creation in my programs using Velocity Script.
For instance, when creating an ON24 event in Marketo, I typically need to create at least 8 emails. I’m interested in reducing this count by creating a script that allows complete working with minimum emails.
Is this achievable?
Thanks,
Muneer
Hi Syed!
Apologies for the delay in jumping in here, it was a holiday this week here in the United States so I had some time out of office and offline from technology before ramping up in the mentorship program.
I will echo what Udit has said, you will still need to create those emails but it will reduce the amount of work you need to do for those emails. Think of it similar to dynamic content. You can use the velocity scripting to pull in relevant information to the email but you cannot use velocity scripting to build the email in its entirety.
I think this would require a bit more background in your event strategy as well. What are you currently doing to market your On24 Events? Sounds like with 8 emails it is likely some combination of an invite, a reminder or 2 (to register and/or that the event is upcoming), a confirmation email, and some follow up emails.
Depending on the content within those emails you may be able to reduce your workload and the time it takes to create the scripting by utilizing standard tokens and creating some standard templates that you could just plug the information into for each email. But I would need to see more of what you are doing. Happy to help if you want to share more!
Hi @AshleighMo, thanks for your response. So, regarding our events, we are creating ON24 events in Marketo. These events consist of 10 emails.
Now, here, I am looking to minimize the count of these emails to save the manual work. What I am trying to do is:
Is it possible to do?
Thanks,
Muneer
Hi @SyedHasan,
Why are you trying to cut down the number of emails? Is it just due to time to build? I would actually recommend creating an event program template that you can clone from each time that utilizes some standard language and tokens for the event name and other relevant information (date, time, locations, etc.). I've seen this implemented well in several companies.
Hi @AshleighMo, we do have a tokenized templates in our instance. We clone them to create a new program. Here, I am just trying to cut the time, yes. Also, trying to implement the Velocity scripting. But it's not something which I need to do at any cost. If there is any way to implement the script and cut down the email counts then it's fine.
So it sounds like your goal is to use the scripting to cut down the time it takes to fill in the tokens? You basically want the scripting to do the tokenizing for you, is that correct?
Hi @AshleighMo, any thought on my query..
Hi @SyedHasan ,
Can you elaborate on how are you planning to reduce the number of emails, because for an event program usually the emails created are related to invitation, follow up for register, confirmation of registration, reminder to attend & thank you for attending.
if you go by this minimum of 5 email have to be created.
By using velocity script you can only reduce amount of work needed to set up these emails.
Hello hello!
I'm very glad to participate in the mentorship program! I'm Gianluca, and I live in Italy, very close to the lake in Como.
I'm working in a software company in Switzerland, and I've been hired as a web developer, but I moved as a Marketing Technology and Analytics Expert in the last few months.
I've been working with Marketo for 6 years now, but in the last couple of years as the main administrator of the entire system. I'm working mainly with integration, complex flow, webhooks, REST API, and technology backend.
I hope to level up all my Marketo skills and become an Expert by the end of the program, and, why not, an Architect next year!
Hi ggerla! I am happy you are here. Sounds like we could learn a lot from each other as I have been mainly the Martech and Analytics side and only recently venturing more into the web side of things. I am jealous that you live near lake Como, I definitely would love to get over there some day!!
