Issue You want to know if it's possible to have the same folder name in both the Default workspace and another workspace.     Solution You cannot have the same folder name in different worksapces. For example, if you have a folder in your Default workspace named "Test" and then you try to create another folder called "Test" in a different workspace, this will not work. The same thing will happen if you try to clone a program to a different workspace and you use the exact same file name. When you are creating new folders or cloning programs, you must use a unique name.

Issue How deleting or archiving programs will affect the Lead field: Acquisition Program.     Solution If you delete a Marketo Program, the field will append a "deleted" at the end of the Program Name. For example, if the Program Name was "July 2016 newsletter" for Acquisition Program, after deleting the Program, the field value would change to: "July 2016 newsletter  -  deleted (####)". The numbers represent an activity ID on the backend. Note: Archiving Programs does not affect the Acquisition Program.

Issue You are considering archiving or deleting old programs, and you are wondering how that will affect reporting on membership of leads.     Solution If you delete a Marketo Program, the membership data will be lost. Technically, in the Lead record Activity Log, there will not be an activity for "no longer in program," but any and all reporting will not be able to report from deleted programs.  Keep in mind that Marketo Support cannot restore deleted programs. Archiving Programs keeps program membership data. This means that Analytics reporting, including Revenue Explorer, will be able to see archived programs and the related data. However, smart lists will no longer be able to reference the archived program. For example, say the smart list was: "Member of Program, program is [name]". In this situation, the smart list wouldn't be able to locate the program.

Issue When creating a Smart List with a "Member of SFDC Campaign" filter, the SFDC Campaign is visible on the drop-down list, yet it throws an error when selected and the Smart List is loaded: "Error running Smart List: Check your Smart List configuration" Solution Things to check: The campaign has been re-named in SFDC or has been deleted. It could also be that somehow a "space" has been entered before the campaign name. For example, Marketo is looking for "SFDC Campaign Name" and SFDC has it as " SFDC Campaign Name" or "SFDC Campaign Name ". The campaign is present and active in SFDC, but is not visible to the sync user. The Marketo Sync User details can be located in [Admin > Integration > Salesforce > Username] This can be checked by logging in to SFDC as the Marketo sync user and verify that the campaigns are present with the correct name and activated for that sync user.

Issue None of your tokens are rendering inside of your .ics Calendar File token and instead are showing as the {{lead._____}} form.     Solution This is caused when a single token has an undefined value, such as a 'My Token' which doesn't exist in your Program. Send yourself a version of the Calendar file and look for a blank space where a token should be- This will be the token causing the others to not work. Make sure to define a value for this token and then your Calendar File will render without issue.

Issue Can a Default program in a nurture stream be changed to the Nurture Channel for reporting purposes? Solution Program Channels can only be applied to one type of Program. Nurture Channel will only be usable on a Engagement type program. You can however have multiple channels avaliable for a specific type of program! So you can have one program type with multiple channel options, but you cannot have one channel used for multiple program types.

Issue After running an A/B test, some records appear to have received both Test and Winner.     Solution In an A/B test, the sample size of the audience is sent the variants, and then for the winner: the entire audience minus the test audience is sent the Winning email. So let's say that you received both Test and Winner. This means you have duplicate records in the database. Marketo is designed to not send duplicate leads the same email at the same time. So one of the duplicates is qualified for the Test, and then when the Winner is sent, it's the total audience minus the test audience, the Winner is sent to the duplicate record. This above situation can apply to Lead Records as well, because of duplicates with the same email address, but also duplicate records that may have a FWD set up between them (record B emails FWD to Record A email address). To reduce the chances of this happening, you may wish to run a de-duplication pass on your database.

Issue A lead was not sent an email by a Smart Campaign even though they should have qualified for the Smart List.     Solution * Check if the lead has reached the daily or weekly communication limit. https://docs.marketo.com/display/public/DOCS/Enable+Communication+Limits https://docs.marketo.com/display/public/DOCS/Apply+Communication+Limits+to+Smart+Campaign   * Check if the lead has a duplicate lead with the same email address that was sent an email already.   * Check if the campaign is set to qualify leads only once. If the lead has ran through the campaign previously when it had different flow steps, then the lead cannot qualify for the campaign again even though the flow steps have changed. https://docs.marketo.com/display/public/DOCS/Edit+Qualification+Rules+in+a+Smart+Campaign   * If all leads in the campaign were not processed, check if there is a campaign restriction. https://docs.marketo.com/display/public/DOCS/Enable+Person+Restrictions+for+Smart+Campaigns

Issue Are Smart List filters that accept text values case-sensitive (e.g. First Name, Last Name)?   Solution Smart list filters are NOT case-sensitive. For example: If you use the smart list filter 'First Name is John', it will return leads with First Name 'John' or 'john' with a lower case 'j' Vice versa: If you use the smart list filter 'First Name is john', it will return leads with First Name 'john' or 'John' with an upper case 'j'

Issue When using the Filter 'Member of SFDC Campaign' in the Smart List and checking the people tab to see which records are qualified, this message occurs: Could not evaluate rule 1 (SFDC Campaign 'Campaign Name' not found) Note: it may state could not evaluate rule # - # can be any number, if the filter is number 5.  # will equal 5   Solution The Fix Ensure the that the SFDC Campaign being referenced in the Smart List is an ACTIVE campaign The Why This error occurs due to the SFDC Campaign not being an active campaign in SFDC. You may be wondering "Then why can I select the SFDC campaign in the drop down?" This is because the Smart List Filter specifically 'Member of SFDC Campaign' similar to 'Has Opportunity' filter reference a backend table in Marketo. This backend table is updated when a SFDC Campaign is removed or renamed. Therefore, Marketo does not directly perform an API call to check if the campaign is selectable, but rather uses the backend table as reference. One way to check in Marketo if the SFDC Campaign is active is to check the 'Added to SFDC Campaign' Trigger in a Smart Campaign's Smart List as that dropdown will only show active campaigns.

Issue When viewing the activity history for email sends to a lead, the campaign name does not reflect the program name responsible for the send.   Solution Marketo will run background campaigns to handle emails sent through a either an email program or a nurture program. The naming convention for this may look like the following:   Program - #### - Exploration - Campaign Program - #### - Exploitation - Campaign Email Batch Program - #### - send-email-campaign To refer to the accurate name of the program responsible for the send, this information can be found in the Detail section of the activity log.

Issue Sometimes you may get this error when trying to sync a Marketo Program to an SFDC Campaign -  "Not allowed: Salesforce campaign contains incompatible statuses", even though the statuses match in the Marketo program and SFDC campaign.   Solution Check for the statuses in the Marketo program channel and SFDC campaign - you will see the same statuses. This error occurs if there is any case-sensitive error in the statuses. For example, if your Marketo program has the following statuses: Attended, Registered, Unable to Attend and the SFDC campaign has Attended, Registered, Unable to attend. Then you will encounter the above error. You have to change the status in Marketo as "Unable to attend" or change the status in SFDC Campaign as "Unable to Attend"  in order to fix this.

Issue A recent email send resulted in a number of leads specifically blocked by Communication Limits, as seen within the Results or Lead Activity Log. What are the re-sending options? Solution The Marketo Application does not offer any automatic re-sending/rescheduling functions within the campaign. If communication limits are low, and records are blocked from being sent emails, you may need to adjust the limits or set the necessary programs or campaigns to ignore communication limits. Enable/Disable Communication Limits in an Email Program Apply Communication Limits to Smart Campaign - you would need to undo this process in this case. Even if the records were not sent the email because of Communication Limits, they would still be made members of the campaign or program.  If you were going to try to re-send these records that were blocked due to communication limits you could try this Filter combination: Member of Smart Campaign/Member of Program and Not Was Sent Email   Those 2 filters will show you the members that were not sent the email, and then you could re-send them at a later time.

Issue When you use the "Add to SFDC Campaign" flow step, and the lead isn't already in SFDC, this step will sync the lead to SFDC, and you want to know which assignment rules will be applied.   Solution The SFDC auto-assignment rule will be used. To explain this further, if for some reason you don't have lead assignment rules firing properly in Salesforce, it will be assigned to what is called the "Default Lead Owner" in Salesforce. It's not just "Add to Salesforce Campaign" that uses what is called "implied Salesforce actions". All of the following flow steps will sync the lead to Salesforce first before running the flow step if the person is not already synced to Salesforce: Add to Salesforce Campaign Change Status in Salesforce Campaign (this will sync them AND add them to the campaign first) Change Owner Convert Person Create Task

Issue You receive the following error: "Ouch! 500 Error Something went wrong. We monitor this sort of thing, but if you are an authorized support contact, you should create a support ticket."       Solution This can happen because of temporary network issues. Try out the following troubleshooting steps. 1. Clear Browser Cache 2. Try a different browser 3. Try a different device 4. Try a different internet connect (Hotspot/Tether from mobile) If you still have any issue after trying all these steps, please contact Marketo Support for further assistance.

Issue Description You have a smart campaign setup and the flowstep called “Change score” activity is not logged or missing in the activity log. Issue Resolution If the records who qualify for the flowstep already have the same value which you have specific in the flow step, the activity will not be logged. The activities will not be logged because there is no change being made by the campaign.

Issue Description Upon reviewing the activity log of a record you've noticed their activity log seems to be missing data. Usually the activity type is a "Change Data Value" and the details show "Missing history details".  If you double click on the activity nothing happens, there is no Activity Details popup window. Issue Resolution This message appears in the activity log when the characters in a field exceed the maximum number of characters allowed in that field. Basically you've hit the character limit for the field.  The character limit is 60,500 character.  The resolution is to reduce the number of characters in the field. Also evaluate if you need all the information in that field and optimize so that the character limit is not met.

Issue Description The exact distinction between the "Email Bounces" and "Email Bounces Soft" filter and trigger is unclear. Issue Resolution The “Email Bounces” trigger or filter will look only at hard bounces, where Marketo received a definitive "No" from the target server. The “Email Bounces Soft” trigger or filter only looks at soft bounces, which occur when we are unable to deliver the email, but did not receive a rejection from the target server. You can use both filters with "OR" logic in order to look at all bounces.
