Change "Email Suspended" to "Email Was Suspended"

Change "Email Suspended" to "Email Was Suspended"

It is confusing that the "Email Suspended" field does not ever switch back to false after it is triggered. While I do understand the functionality and reasons for this field not switching back, it is still confusing for new customers to Marketo.

Since this is a historic field that does not reset, I suggest to change the name of this field to "Email was Suspended" to indicate that it is a historic field. When people look at this field title, they will know that it may not be a current value and will be encouraged to look at the "Email Suspended At" field to see if the lead is still suspended.

This has been a problem for 6 or 7 years. Yes.

Just like "Clicked Link" now says "Clicked Link on WebPage" -- some things just need updates.

Will,

I'm going to just fix this instead! It's on my radar.

Hi - I wanted to add my experiences with the email suspend field.

  • This is an automated part of Marketo t. We can't control this field or action.  So it would make sense that Marketo would want it to work perfectly.
    • Issues:   Once suspended always suspended as shown by the UI - for both Email Suspended = Yes and Email Suspended Date.  However, this is not the case in the Database.  Email Suspended is only good for 24 hours in the database, then it is unsuspended in the Database but the UI does not reflect that.
      • How does a customer count or track the number of suspensions per record over time in a Smart List?
      • How does one track suspension counts and % over time across all emails in the current system?
      • If a suspended status is temporary, why is it not shown that way in the UI?
      • How does a customer account for suspended emails when reporting results?

Thanks for listening.  I hope this gets fixed soon.

Just wanted to echo others' statements - my misunderstanding of this term's meaning just caused me about 3 days of struggle with why my leads were suspended from emails, and several backs and forth with support. Let's get this changed, for others' benefit!

Voting this one up... still a confusing issue.

I wind up coming back to the community at least once a year to remind myself about what this field actually means. This would help so much. *voted up!
