Cecile, We won't have the ability to assign users until the August release on Friday. Once that release is live, you will see the option in admin to assign users to the calendar.

The ability to assign calendar licenses will be live on August 22 (next Friday). You will have to assign the 5 free licenses by September 5th.More info in the What's New - August 2014 Release Notes

Have you confirmed that there is rules, approved assets, and a confirmed date and time? It seems that bit of information in that article before the Confirmed screenshot could potentially be a list of items that need to be in place before you are able to use the slider to activate.
It does stop the dashboard data unfortuantely. It is a drawback of using programs in the engagement engine but to us, it was more important to make sure that the leads were not receiving content they had already downloaded/viewed.
