Hi Marketo Community, I created a responsive Guided Landing Page Template and made landing page located in this URL: http://pages.hatchearlylearning.com/Guided-Template-Test.html Resizing the window in my Chrome browser shows the tablet and mobile viewports working as intended. However, when I try to open the same page on my iPhone, the desktop view shows up and all of the responsive elements seem to have been stripped except for .two-column-container-bg-image, which changes images correctly based on screen size. Clearing my history did not help. I initially had the style sheet hosted externally, so I tried moving all of the CSS into the template but still had no luck. Any help with troubleshooting this would be very helpful! Attaching the code for the guided template as well.

Grégoire Michel I've been looking at their documentation this morning and I agree, functionality seems very limited and it hasn't changed since your last post. In the case of running multiple surveys, it sounds like a separate custom field needs to be created for each survey to house the personalized link. Not great considering Marketo custom fields can't be deleted.

I have the following custom form code that displays a thank you message on submit without reloading the page. I'd like to take this a step further and make this conditional. If the field C_Service_Reason is submitted with the value Training, then I don't want the thank you message to display, and instead want them to be redirected to an external URL on success. I tried incorporating the line of code you mentioned but wasn't sure how to make it work in conjunction with the onsuccess handler we already have in place. We place utm tags in all of our emails, so we use this: Smart List: Visited Web Page Trigger: any Querystring contains: [unique utm tags minus the question mark at the beginning] Flow: Change program status to clicked We've been using this for over a year now and I have yet to see a fake click with this method.

Frank Passantino following up on this as well. Do you have a timeline to fix this bug? I am still unable to delete overriden tokens without having to hunt them down in emails, delete them, then add them back in after deletion.

Valerie Whiting completely agree! I definitely recommend creating a smart campaign for each relevant activity you want to score (such as email click, product page visit, click on online ad, contact sales page visit, etc.) so that you can be as specific as you want with the scoring for each. Logging these activities as interesting moments is also helpful so that you can pass the "last interesting moment" information on to the sales team when they receive an MQL alert. We also score people based on demographics when they enter the system for the first time (role, company size, etc.) so that their lead score is a combination of behavior and demographic characteristics.

We have UTM codes on all of our emails where utm_medium=email. So you can have smart campaign with a trigger that says Visits Web Page = any, and Querystring contains utm_medium=email. Alternatively, you can use the Referrer filter under Visits Web Page = any and enter your email branding domain instead. One potential downside is that this will only track web visits to pages where your Munchkin code is installed, so it won't catch email clicks to external web pages. That's not an issue for us but I wanted to point it out.

Switching to tracking web visits instead of clicks worked wonders for us with MQL's. The number of MQL's sent to sales decreased by about 10% YOY, but the pipeline and revenue coming from them increased by a good 20% YOY.

I don't use email insights either, mainly because Marketo's email click metrics are not reliable. Our market uses strong spam filters, and so 70% of our "clicks" are just the spam filters testing out our links. As a result, we've given up on using "clicks link in email" entirely. We just track "visited web page" with the email's utm tags in our smart campaigns, but those filters aren't available on Email Insights.

Will an email token work if used as the default value? We're also looking at an example where most traffic won't have parameters but we want to keep the email field hidden. I wasn't able to get this to work on an external landing page, but am wondering if this would work on a Marketo landing page.

Hi Dan Stevens, Thanks for all of your input in the community around this subject. Only a small fraction of our database is in the EU and we currently don't have any customers there (and don't plan to in the foreseeable future). Based on your comments and what I've read about GDPR cookie consent, it really does sound like Munchkin and other cookies would need to be disabled for EU visitors and only activated with their consent. This gets tricky as disabling cookies would also prevent us from tracking their IP address to see if they are from the EU in the first place! Is disabling Munchkin by default something that can be done within Marketo or is a third-party vendor pretty much required to do this?

Hi Diana Watts, The default setting is that the lead will see the pop-up every time they visit the site for as long as they match the segment associated with the campaign. We didn't want to have people to see the same lightboxes on our website every time so the best solution for this is to use the User Context API. It tracks views and clicks on campaigns so you can 1) Have users only see a pop-up every 10 visits or 2) Not see the pop-up for 10 visits after clicking on it. There is no middle ground unfortunately but we decided to go with the User Context API method for a better user experience. There is an idea in the Marketo Community a while back asking for more control over the frequency of impressions.

Hi Grant Booth I like that workaround and will need to use it going forward. Our sales team has recently requested to see lists of who is expected to receive targeted emails before they go out and that seems like the best approach for now. It's fairly straightforward to add the segmentation to the smart list in most cases, but things can get a bit complicated when the smart list already has several advanced filters in place.

Currently, the audience box of an email send program helpfully shows the total leads and the number blocked as clickable smart list links. However, it doesn't show who is actually expected to get the email (leads minus blocked). In my opinion, the actual audience is just as important (or more important) than the other 2 numbers and should be added to this view as a clickable smart list.

Definitely worth it if you have the budget for it. Some decent ROI reporting is possible in Marketo without the RCE add-on but has a lot of limitations. My only caution would be to make sure your Marketo instance is already prepared to use RCE before you purchase it. Do you have defined channels, program status flows, period costs and "success" definitions for each channel clearly established? A good way to test this is to use the Program Analyzer (bubble chart) in the analytics tab. If you have already been using it to calculate ROI for different marketing channels and now want even better ROI data, then RCE will be of great benefit to you from Day 1. If this isn't the case yet (or something looks really off in the Program Analyzer), I would make sure your program management and CRM integrations are airtight before getting RCE. No one wants to get a powerful (and expensive) tool and then not be able to use it for the first few months. Hope that helps!

Harish Gupta thanks for your input! Makes sense to me on the Marketo side. The token approach definitely seems to work best. How are you creating, naming and uploading each unique PDF file? Is this done manually?

Before I get called out, I know that attachments can't be placed in Marketo emails and that this question has been answered before . My question is how are users in the community using automation to send out emails that include personalized PDFs? Invoices and certificates come to mind. Any info on third-party vendors would be very helpful. Our ideal scenario is to use a vendor that can 1) Send automated emails and add them to the lead's Activity Log or 2) Generate personalized PDF URLs that can be inserted into Marketo emails via tokens.
