No, there is no API for reports but what you can do is to fetch the activity data in database and use that to create reports.Since Marketo have 90 days and 25 month data retention policy, it makes sense to have a backup database to have historical activity data.
Since you have gender specific lists, update the salutation based on these lists and use the salutation in velocity script.
What I mentioned above should work for you. Create a new field and ask marketo to merge it. You can put a different field label (friendly name) for now and re-name it to what you want once marketo confirm the merging.
