We apologize sincerely for the access issues you are experiencing today on Marketo.com. Features accessed through Marketo.com such as forms, web personalization, etc. are affected due to a domain access issue through our DNS information service provider. The Marketo.com domains are being propagated and should be completed shortly. Marketing automation capabilities such as campaign management and execution, CRM sync, Munchkin, and API are not affected. As soon as domain access is restored, you will no longer experience these issues.

You mentioned that CRM sync was not affected; however, we experienced tremendous delay in loading accounts, contacts and opportunities in Salesforce. When we reached out to Salesforce support about the system slowness, they did an evaluation and deferred us to Marketo, indicating the Marketo outage was also causing the slowness in their system. Not only was all of our marketing projects halted, but our sales team was also severely affected. I'd like to know how Marketo intends to ensure this doesn't happen again in general, as well as to prevent affecting any integrated systems, as now our sales team has lost confidence in our marketing automation tool and considering separating the integration.

Rob Stretch, I was able to access docs.marketo.com just now. We are still seeing a few intermittent issues while the domain propagates across the various DNS servers. Hopefully, you are able to access Docs now.

Thank you.

Lalitha Ram, yes, the issue has been resolved. However, we are still seeing intermittant issues while the domain propagates across the various DNS servers. What happens is, when a web domain is created/renewed/changed, that change gets sent out to the various DNS servers around the globe. So, we've updated the domain but the trouble is waiting for those DNS servers to update on their side. Until they do, they serve up the last-known version of the domain, which was the version that wasn't working properly.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi Nikki Aurelio

The DNS issue we've experienced should not have impacted your CRM sync in any way, but of course we want to make sure by looking at it directly. Even if this wasn't related, we certainly want to see what is causing the backlog and how we can resolve it. I recommend that you Contact Marketo Support so that we can investigate it directly.

With regards to preventing this in the future, I can appreciate how this would cause concern. If you haven't already, you should take a look at the letter from our CEO Steve Lucas who addressed this point in particular. You'll find that here: Letter From Steve Lucas -- Marketo.com Domain Access Issue

Did this affect customers on Marketo's Shared IPs? For instance, if we were sending out emails on Marketo Shared IPs and the domain became unresponsive at the time, could that have triggered blacklists by SpamCop?

We have seen that snippets were affected in the outage.  Anyone else seen broken snippet connections?

Hard to say for sure. You should ask Support about specific instances.

We have image snippets in some of our assets, and the images within those snippets are no longer rendering.  Yes.
