Which revenue stage to move Former Customers to?

Our customers are typically on yearly contracts and if they do not renew, their SFDC type moves to Former Customer. When they move into Former Customer, they are basically a lead to start marketing to again. I know one option is to create a separate stage for Former Customer. However, before we create this I wanted to reach out to the community to see if/how everyone else is handling this? Which stage do you move your contacts that move from Customer to Former Customer into?

Yes, usually I push them to Former Customer and then allow them to be recycled to Opp if they return.
