In salesforce, we will start to deduplicate contacts based on some criterias:
- we will detect duplicate contacts
- based on some criteria we will detect master contacts and secondary contacts
- Master contacts will be updated if something miss
- aSecondary contacts will be deleted
We would like to know what are the impacts in Marketo based on this procedure.
What we should do in Marketo to avoid them.
If you delete the person in SFDC, it will still exist in Marketo, you may want to think about running a smart campaign to check for this and take an action:
The above is the automated way, of course you can make this a manual process so that you have 100% awareness of what is going on.
As Frank Mentioned these leads will still exist in Marketo and could therefore re-populate your SFDC instance if you do not also delete them in Marketo. Make sure you set it up as Frank said to prevent this from happening, Also you may want to turnt he sync off while you clean up your SFDC.
RingLead has a webhook that sits in between Marketo and SFDC to assist you with this type of initiative. If you want to get a better understanding of how we can work with you feel free to email me at email@example.com
If your clean-up process involves any kind of updating of records that are synced to Marketo, you run the risk of creating a large backlog as all of those updates get queued to sync. I recommend any kind of mass data manipulation or updates to be done after close of business of Friday if possible so the sync has time to work everything down.
