SSL & tracking cookies

if we add an SSL certificate to our website, ie:

switch from:

http://domain.com

to

https://domain.com

Does this render our Marketo cookies void, or do we see no change?

I'm aware that changing domain.com to newdomain.com DOES affect tracking.

Thanks!

Re: SSL & tracking cookies

I really don't have an answer for your question. But Marketo has to install the certificate for you after you purchase it. You have to email services@marketo.com to request the install.. I'd ask the same question in that email too. I'd be interested in knowing their answer as well.

Hussam, there's no need (other than consistency and, well, security) to have your Marketo landing pages run over SSL.  Your main site can be https:// while Mkto is still http://.

There will be no change.  All existing cookies will still be valid.

Re: SSL & tracking cookies

Thanks for the answers.

For clarity, I'm referring to SSL on an external, WordPress powered website - not a Marketo landing page.

Re: SSL & tracking cookies

Same difference... the cookies are not secure (meaning they do not have the secure attribute set) so they're shared between https:// and http:// variants of the same domain.

This is important because if you do have traffic going to Marketo LPs on plain http:// you would want to make sure the cookies are valid back and forth (and they are).
