Hey all -
I'm trying to sync leads to SFDC from Marketo on a form with just 1. first name 2. last name and 3. email (this is a newsletter signup form).
Problem is, the SFDC sync fails because it's requiring a company name, which we dont capture. What are some viable workarounds to getting these leads into SFDC?
Thanks!
Zahir
Just curious, what is the reason why you do not capture the company name?
In any case, there is an option in Marketo that handles this scenario - Set Default Lead Last Name and Company Name - Marketo Docs - Product Docs.
Our audience are developers who are overwhelmingly internet savvy and hate forms or providing lots of info for a simple newsletter. Our philosophy is if it doesn't have to do with what is being offered, we shouldnt request that information.
Hi Zahir Surmawala,
This is happening because of Salesforce validation. what you can do is edit these in salesforce via admin rights or make that field as default.
Hope is helps.
Thanks Ravi. Though I tried stopping the default requirement for Company in salesforce, I discovered its not possible in my version of enterprise edition. Created a smart campaign instead to fill "Company" when missing as [not captured], in hopes of building a strong case to execs for requiring the information!
As an alternative to (or in addition to) setting the SFDC defaults as in Jim's link, you could add a hidden Company field to the form that is always set to [Unknown] or, perhaps more appropriately if you're B2C, set the Company name to First Name + Last Name.
As @ravi noted this is down to the validation rules in your org.
