Sales Alerts including Previous Data and New Data

Hi there,

I'm trying to set up a Sales Alert that tells our sales team when an existing lead fills in a web form with new contact data. When this happens, the sales owner needs to look at the changes in data to decide if it requires them to take action in our CRM.

I was hoping there was a way to use tokens to be able to send an email alert along the lines of "Your contact has changed their response to this question from X to Y". I have been experimenting with Sales Alerts, but I'm struggling to find a way of pulling in the previous data.

Has anyone found a way to achieve this?

Thanks,

James

Re: Sales Alerts including Previous Data and New Data

You will need to have two fields:
-New Data (most recent)
-Old Data (whatever the last one was)

Each time they fill this field out, use New Data to overwrite, then copy New Data to Old Data. BUT, don't do that until AFTER the Sales Alert goes out.

Hi Josh,

The solution that you have proposed is fine if we have just a couple of fields to be tracked but if we want to check this for all fields that were updated we will have to create multiple duplicate fields.

Thanks Josh - that's a useful work around. As Gunjan says, it's not ideal if you want to do this over a number of fields. I might add this as a new idea to see if there's a wider need for this feature in Marketo.

Thanks,

James
