Release Notes: Fall '17: Recipient Time Zone

Questions in regard to the Release Notes: Fall '17 - Marketo Docs - Product Documentation

Is it accurate that it only applies to Email Send programs and we can not utilize this for engagement programs?

Also it  uses the field - I assume will be "Marketo Time Zone" - need to be enriched by the Marketo user or will there be any Marketo intelligence that auto-populates based on City,State and Country? So many questions and I want to play

Re: Release Notes: Fall '17: Recipient Time Zone

Hi guys, let me try to provide some clarity. We are going to support deliver in person time zone for both email programs and nurture programs in our 4 release. This will be a slow roll out and we are planning to have this completed in less than one month. The time zone calculation will be based on city, state, zip code, country fields and we will defer to then inferred versions of those fields in the event that we are unable to derive the time zone from what is provided for each person in the standard fields. If we are still unable to derive the persons time zone from the inferred field values, the person will qualify based on what the user has set for the program.

Re: Release Notes: Fall '17: Recipient Time Zone

this was asked in another thread. Marketo hasn't specified yet.

We suspect it is based on the person's prior click/open history with IP lookup. Mailchimp does something similar.

Notes I have from Summit say: "city state zip country, then fallback on inferred data"

May have changed since then.

Hi Frank - so will this apply to child programs - with individual "send email" smart campaigns - within Engagement Programs?

Re: Release Notes: Fall '17: Recipient Time Zone

Thank you, Frank. This is helpful. Will we be able to "opt out" of sending in the recipient time zone? There may be times we will want everyone to receive an email at the same time. It would be ideal to control this per email.

Hi Dave, yes you will have the ability to choose which sends utilize this feature and which do not.

Hey Frank,

Do you have any update on when this functionality will be available?

Thanks!

Re: Release Notes: Fall '17: Recipient Time Zone

hope it applies to ANY type of program that sends emails - not just Email Send programs (especially since Email Send programs can't be used in EPs). Very rarely do we use the Email Send program.
