Quality of translation

I just tested Japanese error messages in forms and found it to be a little bit awkward. I was wondering how the translations are in other languages. Are users overwriting some messages using JavaScripts?

Re: Quality of translation

I second Nicole.

You can define your own messages until your suggestions are incorporated:

Re: Quality of translation

@Nicole, @bgomes - The original message in English is "Please select a value for this field". The Japanese message is a sentence fragment without a "please".

English:"This field is required"
Current Japanese:"このフィールドは必須です"
Suggested Japanese:"必須フィールドです"

English:"Please select a value for this field"
Current Japanese: "値を選択" <- sentence fragment
Suggested Japanese:"選択してください"

English:"Please enter a valid email address" Current Japanese:"有効なEメールアドレスを入力してください" <- Japanese don't say email
Suggested Japanese:正しいメールアドレスを入力してください"

I’m not sure where telephone validation is occuring because it seems to be accepting all text. I can't get the current Japanese translations to these. Nevertheless, here are my suggested Japanese translations:

English: "Please enter a valid telephone number",
Suggested Japanese: "正しい電話番号を入力してください"

English : "Please wait"
Suggested Japanese:"少々お待ちください"

Re: Quality of translation

Ei-Mang,

BTW, if Marketo is working on localizing Marketo to Japanese, I would be more than willing to take part in the Beta test.

Re: Quality of translation

Hitoshi, just a heads up that your suggested changes to the Japanese form error messages will be going live with the August release which is scheduled for next week. Thanks again for your help! Ei-Mang
