Putting Marketo forms on a new website

Hi - wondering if you can help?

I'm looking to put Marketo forms on our new website. I've sent the iframe code to the developers, and they have said it's not possible. Instead, they've asked me if it's possible to send to the Marketo API by way of a JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) or with a simple HTML POST request?

Does anyone have experience of this?

Re: Putting Marketo forms on a new website

Its not possible is not true. Iframe can work as we use this for all our Trial download forms. Check out our site for an example of iframe live: http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/download/backup-recovery/advanced-server-windows/

You simple place your Marketo form on to a plain Marketo Landing Page and get you web team to point to that Marketo Landing Page on one of there webpages. Then you (the Marketer) can take that LP and build a program around it for maintance management and reporting. No-longer needing the Web Team constant involvment when building landing pages.

What there are asking defeats the power of Marketo. By limiting the relience of a IT/Web team Marketers can do this themselfs. Yes you can do this through SOAP API, HTTP POST and advanced Munchkin code but may well loose some functionallity.

Ed makes a good point that doing too much of the SOAP API or POSTs defeats the point of enabling marketing to do things fast.

But there are good reasons to do this - converting existing website forms since you can't always use LPs; in app data transfer; etc.

What I would do is send them the instructions on using iFrames and ask them to do this because it will be one time and easy for everyone. If they resist, then you need to ask them what security or technical concerns they have.

Re: Putting Marketo forms on a new website

Hi Lucy

I have done exactly what you are trying to achieve on 2 of my websites. The method suggested by Edward above is exactly what I have done. It works - really works. You can create a smart campaign around sending the first automated email the minute someone fills the form.

Good luck trying to convince your developer.
