Hey gang,
So my question is related to the Wordpress plugin Poptin and it has two parts.
A: You can use Zapier (which we are trying) to connect Poptin direct to Marketo so that leads from people who pass through gates on their pop-ups get created as new leads or update lead information. What I lack is a way to source that the person came from Poptin. I've spoken to Zapier and Poptin support and neither had a really good example of a way to accomplish this, so I thought I would ask!
B: Because Poptin sits on top of my website and is not a link native to the site, Marketo isn't registering Poptin activity, like downloading an e-book through a pop-up, as an activity and I don't know how I would go about trying to log that activity.
If anyone has any suggestions or has used Poptin in conjunction with Marketo in the past please let me know your thoughts!
Thanks
Poptin>Zap>Marketo
you should be able to leverage APIs to do this with Zap as a router/processor. Their docs should be clear enough.
Ugh, another service that doesn't really understand what "integrating" with Marketo means (Unbounce is another one).

Can you add a hidden field to the form, or some other marker of the source? If you can't, you're out of luck, because if they're passing through your data using the old lead API (shudder) there's no way to add identifying marks to the call itself.
Have you asked them how they stop people from using up all your API calls? I really detest when services act like they aren't creating a DoS vulnerability.

Are you sure that's it, or is it that the Poptin form fillout doesn't associate the Munchkin web session, so the clicks are in fact logged, just to an anonymous lead?
Sanford,
I am looking into the hidden field options, I know there is a way to do it in Zapier but I am waiting on their support to give me more direction.
Now that I think about it, it’s likely because of the munchkin tracking. I wonder how I go about adding that to the Poptin form?

I would be asking, "How do I go about submitting the Poptin form to Marketo directly, instead of adding hops/vulnerabilities/feature gaps?"
Well so even if I went offline and did an export/import and bypass Zapier entirely, would I not still be left with trying to track the code on those pages?

I didn't say "offline" though. I mean using JS and the Marketo Forms JS API to submit the Poptin form, from the browser, directly to Marketo. This makes it look exactly like a Marketo form post with all the bells and whistles.
Ahhhh ok.
Good thing I have a web intern who starts Monday and knows JS! Lol
Thanks as always Sanford
