I want to create a trigger where the trigger is Fills Out Form but I want to specify what page the form is on with Webpage IS...

I just can't figure out what marketo is looking for in the box. My landing page is a marketo landing page and I've tried inputing the name of the landing page that appears on my side bar as well as the full url but I keep getting an error message.

Can anyone help?

Hey Caryl,

Try filling out the form on the live page once.  This should make it available in the web page constraint.

This is still not working for me.  I have one form on multiple non-Marketo landing pages, and when I use the Filled Out Form, Add Contraint - Webpage, and whether it has "http://" or "www." in it or not, it still does not find the URL.  I have filled out the form on the page several times (as have other people in the past, I'm updating this form), and it still cannot find the URL.

Any help?

Hi Monica!

So the easiest way I've found to get around this issue is to make the filter Web Page "contains" instead of "is"

Are you using "Querystring" or "Web Page"? Web Page only has "is" and "is not."  Also, do you put the full URL for contains?  Thank you for your response!

The reason I ask is because my Campaigns to send an email alert that someone has filled out the form already had "querystring" contains -> the full URL.  (a non-marketo landing page).  It's been like that for at least a month, and no emails have come through.  I'm worried about how many form fills we have missed.

Hi Monica

Did you manage to make it work? I have similar issues. i have tried all option with URL referrer and query string.

I would love some additional suggestion or if someone managed to make it work.

Thanks

Please post screenshots of:

  • the browser open to the LP with the form (including location bar, of course)
  • the lead activity detail popup for the resulting Filled Out Form activity

Constraining FoF should not be a problem but you may have a subtle typo in your matching strings.

Hi Monica,

There is a filter called "Referrer URL" Have you tried this as a constraint? You can use the contains filter here as well.

We're having the same issue. Any help here, please? This is very important, as we use a single form across multiple non-Marketo landing pages.

Look at the Activity Log for a new lead.  Click the Filled Out Form activity. What's the web page shown there?

It turns out that Marketo takes several hours to catch on to the non-Marketo landing pages. With munchkin code properly inserted on a non-Marketo page, this does work, but 1) you do in fact need to fill out the form from the live URL, and 2) you need to wait several hours for Marketo to catch up.

Yep, I've done both of those things...and when I take off the webpage constraint, the form works just fine.

We are about to launch a new website, so my old website is the one currently hooked up to Marketo...so the new site, in dev, is a third party site to Marketo right now. It seems that I can't use that webpage filter for a third party site. It works just fine when I use the filter for forms and pages that are on my current site, but as soon as I change the web constraint to the dev site, it stops working.

I'm guessing I'll just have to quickly test all of the smartlists as soon as the site goes live, because I don't want to create a separate (and identical) form for every single webpage so I can get around this issue for the dev site.

Laura,

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I'm having the same issue - I want to be able to distinguish which page the form was on, so I can send separate Thank You for Downloading emails. But, when I use the Web Page constraint, the URL won't populate, and there are no drop-down options. I've tried removing the http, but it didn't work. I've already filled out the form on that page. The landing page is a Marketo page. Still, it seems like regardless of what I put in the blank, I get a warning.

Are there any other suggestions or workarounds for this happening?!

Thank you Marketo Community,

Laura, have you logged a form activity on that page?  This is what's used to populate the Web Page constraint in the trigger.  Additionally, are you sure that you're designating the correct form in your trigger?  If not, this can cause a validation error if we've never logged a form fill out for the form there.

Hi,

Is your smart list still working? I'm trying to do the same thing (a Marketo form on a non-Marketo landing page), but when I do, I get an error in the smartlist regardless of whether or not I use the http:// bit. And then I can't run the campaign because there's an error in the smart list.

And the dropdown box for web pages doesn't give me any options.

I'm wondering if instead, I'll have to add a filter for visits web page and the trigger would just be fills out form...but that's a messy and potentially inaccurate way for me because I'm using the same form on every web page, but I want lists of people who have filled out the form on the specific web page they were on when they filled out the form. Not someone who filled out the form and then visited four other pages so they wind up in four lists as though they filled out a form on each page.

Any ideas?

Hi Kenny and Josh,

So for non marketo landing pages you are right Josh you don't need the http:// or www
But the preview box is a bit misleading for non marketo landing pages.

If I have the http:// the preview box loads the website
But then the trigger doesn't work and I get that blinking red light in my sidebar on the campaign

If I don't have the http:// the preview box loads with an error message but the campaign works!

Weird huh?

I agree with Kenny, however, in my experience you do not need the "www" or "http://" at the start of the URL, as I mentioned prior.

Hey Caryl,

For Non-Marketo pages, the URL is required, since Marketo does not have a 'Name' for the external page.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your help. I realized I was pointing to the wrong form which is why when I typed in the webpage name it wouldn't come up.

If it's a marketo landing page you just have to enter the last part of the URL.

I have another question for you though... Do you put in the full URL if you're using a Marketo Form on a Non Marketo Landing Page?

Hey Caryl,

Try filling out the form on the live page once.  This should make it available in the web page constraint.
