Re: [Feb 11 AMA] Ask Me Anything about the Marketo IMS Migration

We did and they were not sure when the transition was going to happen. Is there a "general" timeline of when Adobe will cut over to the IMS fully?

Re: [Feb 11 AMA] Ask Me Anything about the Marketo IMS Migration

Adobe is targeting to have all customers migrated to Adobe identities by the end of 2025. I do encourage you to engage with support further as they have resources internally to connect with to get a better understanding. If you have a desire to migrate soon, they can assist in helping get that scheduled.

Can we expect any downtime/interruptions to outbound communications?
How long should we expect to be blocked from logging into the platform?

Re: [Feb 11 AMA] Ask Me Anything about the Marketo IMS Migration

Hi @nwarr,

Thanks for your question

Can we expect any downtime/interruptions to outbound communications?
There should be no downtime or interruptions. Migration takes place around midnight of the subscription's set timezone. If you are based in the APAC region, then you may get logged out if working at the time of migration, but then you can immediately log in to the new Admin Console.

How long should we expect to be blocked from logging into the platform?
There should be no blocking - you transition from the old to the new. When migrated then, you use your ADOBE ID to log in, not your old password.

Re: [Feb 11 AMA] Ask Me Anything about the Marketo IMS Migration

Hi @smasunda , thanks for your questions!

Q: What are the core benefits of migrating to IMS?

A: Among other things, moving to Adobe IMS ensures that Marketo customers are aligned with future
developments and can benefit from upcoming innovations like AI-powered marketing insights
and deeper data integrations. For more details, please see: Adobe Identity Management System (IMS) Migration Guide for Customers

Q: What do you miss out on if you do not migrate?

A: Please see: Adobe Identity Management System (IMS) Migration Guide for Customers

Q: Do customers have a hard deadline to migrate to IMS?

A: Adobe is targeting to complete all migrations by the end of FY 2025 (November 2025)

Q: Once migrated to IMS what will happen to the Users & Roles section in Marketo?

A: User management will no longer be available as it now resides in Admin Console. Role management remains in Marketo.

Q: How do you use it post migration to IMS?

A: User management and product entitlement are done in Admin Console. Roles management and assignment will still be performed in Marketo Engage.

Q: What are key changes for Admins to keep in mind post migration?

A: Adobe Admin Console does not support user-based access expiration. Users who have Marketo Engage access that’s scheduled to expire post-migration will still be migrated and granted non-expiring access. After migration, they must be manually removed on (or before) the desired expiration date. Please also see: Understanding Marketo Subscription and User Migration to the Adobe Admin Console

Q: What can you do and no longer do in the Admin section of Marketo?

A: You can do everything except for user management or authentication settings related actions.

Q: What are the gotchas to look out for when migrating to IMS?

A: URLs will look different after migration. After migration, Marketo Engage will go from being served from experience.adobe.com to Adobe Experience Cloud. You’ll need to work with your IT team to allowlist all Adobe domains listed at the top of this article to prevent disruption to Marketo Engage access. Also, Admin Console supports Service Provider initiated login only for SSO. Please review the differences in the configuration if you currently user IdP initiated login. Learn more here.

Q: What is the advised approach for this migration if you already have an Adobe Admin Console for other Adobe products?

A: If the other Adobe products and Marketo have integration dependencies (e.g., AJO B2B, AAM), they should reside in the same Adobe Org. If not, it's OK to have separate Admin Consoles. Multiple Admin Consoles can be linked and admins can toggle between them. See under Select your Organization in "Adobe Admin Console Setup .

Re: [Feb 11 AMA] Ask Me Anything about the Marketo IMS Migration

1) Should all users sign in/ create Adobe ID prior to migration?

2) Will the Marketo event app still work after migration?

Re: [Feb 11 AMA] Ask Me Anything about the Marketo IMS Migration

Hi @Caroline_Davids

Thanks for your questions.

1) Should all users sign in/ create Adobe ID prior to migration?

Yes, Users email addresses should be verified as we can only migrate users with verified emails. The migration tools will create Adobe identities for Marketo users who do not exist in the Adobe org. A personal Adobe ID will not be linked to the Marketo instance.

2) Will the Marketo event app still work after migration?

The Event app has been retired and will not work with IMS.

Thanks, Zoe

Re: [Feb 11 AMA] Ask Me Anything about the Marketo IMS Migration

Hi - We have had SSO for Marketo Engage/Measure set up for a few years now, and we have the Admin Console configured with the different products we own. That said, I've reached out to support, and they've said our migration may not occur until Q2 (May of this year.

At this point as the main Admin at my org, should I be uploading all Marketo Engage (non-API) user email addresses into the Admin Console that are not already there? Will this put our org in a good spot for the pending May migration? If not, what other actions can I take to prepare? I've referenced your timeline documentation - https://nation.marketo.com/t5/product-blogs/adobe-identity-management-system-ims-migration-guide-for... - but just hoping for some additional clarity.

Thanks!
