Best practice for Smart List with fields not well-defined

We need to make application-based lists e.g. Salesforce,  Netsuite, SAP etc. However, in our CRM there are multiple fields (and values - e.g. salesforce entered as SFDC) that can have this information and we need to consolidate that. Is there a best practice to clean such data up or advanced filters in Marketo that can help?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.. thanks!

Hi, can you explain more about the application lists and multiple values?

Do you mean that you have a multi select box or string field that may have something like

"salesforce"

"SFDC"

"Salesforce.com"

Yes, you can use marketo to fix this. I believe it's even documented on docs.marketo.com or visit my site: marketingrockstarguides.com to download the guide which has a chapter on Data Management:

  • Smart List=Field IS "salesforce,sfdc, etc"
  • Flow=Change Data Value to Salesforce.com
  • Batch run

I would recommend batch run to initiate the DB, plus a data value changes trigger of the Field for the future.
