Here's the response I received from Support:

Looks like adding the trigger line bumped everything down and they didn’t change the window size. So until the engineers resolve the issue, please resize the dialog box so the "include text-only version" checkbox is displayed. We'll update this ticket when the engineers resolve this issue.

Which still begs the question: What is this new trigger field used for and why weren't we notified about it?

Sorry about the confusion! The Trigger field was added to offer folks the ability to test their Email Script(s). For more information, please check out the “Testing Your Script” section of the Email Scripting developers page: http://developers.marketo.com/documentation/email-scripting/

Same here!  This is especially frustrating as I have noticed that often times when there is no space preceeding the first word in a paragraph (in edit mode or preview mode) and I send myself a sample email as well as the plain text version, I'm seeing additional spaces in those places on the plain text sample.  

Anyone else experiencing a similar issue lately?

All - If you extend the settings box, the Send Text version option will appear.

I'm noticing the same thing.  Furthermore, there's a new "Trigger" field.  What is this for?

What pod are you on? 

I agree with BeHai, I'd open a support ticket. I'm still seeing the option to send a text only version. so this may be a pod or instance specific bug.

You might want to open a support ticket for this. But do the usual first: close Marketo, restart browser and/or restart computer. Might be just a fluke.
