Hi Everyone,
We have officially come to the end of the Marketo Community Mentorship Program 2024.
Thanks for your engagement over the past 4 weeks. This has been a great learning experience for me as well.
Hope I was able to help you all towards achieving the Marketo Certified Expert certification. You may continue to utilise this thread in the future as well if you have any questions regarding the certification prep or discussing with fellow aspirants.

I have completed the nominations from my end for 50% as well as 100% certification vouchers. You may receive the vouchers soon if not already.
Make sure to schedule your exam in the month of July to avail the voucher.

Hi @Nehansh , 

 

In our instance of Marketo we use 2 unique identifiers due to the nature of our audience, email address and a custom field.

 

When conducting A/B tests, do you have thoughts on how we can ensure records do not get both test & winner emails? Or is that not possible since Marketo keys off a single email address?

Hi @suanntan,
I also came across a similar situation recently and as per my analysis. When we have a composite key for deduplication i.e. Email Address + Custom field, in that case the marketo campaign's usual dedupe logics work based on email address only.
If you try sending 2 such records an email from the same campaign then the email will go out only once. But this behaviour may not apply to A/B tests.

While a program creation period cost 20000 was added. The Event took place and the next day you added 30000 under the period cost. When we can see the Revenue Reports to be updated? 

Following first view, reports automatically refresh every 24 hours. But one can refresh them manually any time

Correction for the RCE question: Yes, It takes upto 24 hours for data to sync into Revenue Cycle Explorer. But not Instantly.
The refresh option is generally for the changes you've made to the parameters. The data sync usually happens nightly.

The revenue reports are synced every 24 hours so you would see the update after the next sync or you can manually refresh to see it sooner.

As we have reached the last week of this Mentorship Program, Let's start with the Section 4 of your Exam Prep Guide.

Section 4: Reporting

  • Given the outcome of a campaign, determine how to set up a program to provide the best reporting
  • Given a scenario, be able to investigate and assign the appropriate acquisition program


This section is the smallest yet most crucial from your professional POV. You will explore all the Analytics options available within marketo and how you can utilise them to generate accurate analytics. I would recommend you to go through the Types of Reports in Marketo as well as RCE in great depth. Try to create each report and explore every feature and possibility. The questions in the certification are around how a certain report can be utilised to achieve desired outcome.

Adhering to the timeline of this program, I'll be posting the Week 4 quiz on 21st June.

In our desired folder (ideally where we store our Lead Scoring Program), we will add a folder and smart campaign that scores based on job title. 

1. Create a new smart campaign and name it. Example: "Lead scoring - title"

2. Add "Job Title" as a filter under the "Smart List" tab

3. Add in the titles we'd like to score off

4. Under the "Flow" tab, drag "Change Score" filter and choose Demographic Score as the name.

5. Add the score change desired, and adding constraints if existing scores exist

Steps to consider while setting-up lead scoring based on Job Title. 

  1. Identify roles/levels based and functions that are relevant as per buyer personas. Review the leads database to find out the ideal customers.
  2. Create a scoring method that will assign scoring based on Job levels. For example, C-Level, VP and Head of Departments might get assigned a higher score viz-a-viz a Director or Manager. 
  3. Set-up operational campaigns to apply scores to leads

Section 3: Lead and Data Management

 

  • Outline the key decision points in defining the lifecycle model
  • Apply best practices around lead scoring
  • Implement the appropriate, interesting moments
  • Interpret the lead activity log
  • Given a scenario, identify the creation source
  • Demonstrate how to set up a data management program
  • Analyze an instance’s data quality
  • Identify a few key pieces of Marketo’s data retention policy as it relates to smart lists
  • Summarize how segmentation works
  • Demonstrate the relevance of lead scoring in marketing and sales collaboration


This section checks your expertise in building and implementing processes from scratch in Marketo like Lead Lifecycle and Scoring Model. Prepare yourself to get in-depth questions on program membership, smart list and segmentation criteria and interpretation of activity logs. Make sure to go through all the documentation provided to build a strong fundamental understanding of each of the topics I've mentioned above.

Hi @Nehansh , going through Section 3, I'm noticing that the video (screenshot below) mentions "Lead Status" as a selectable filter when creating operational campaign for lead lifecycle. 

 

I don't see "Lead Status" as an option in my instance and think it may have been re-named to "Lifecycle Stage". I do see the values of MQL, Recycle, Engaged, etc. in this filter. Just want to confirm this is the correct field to be building Lead Lifecycle Programs since it is different from the video

Hi @suanntan,
Generally there is a Person Status/Lead Status field in every instance but you may or not use the same field for your Lifecycle Setup. Sometimes organisations use person status to reflect Active/Inactive/Customer/Distributor or any other business logic.
In such cases, we prefer to create a new Custom Field "Lifecycle Status" to be used exclusively for the Lead Lifecycle Model setup.
