It's been a long time since Marketo social app has not been revisited, and probably the only topic I regret that was not part of the agenda at the summit last week.

One of the features that I feel is missing most is the capability to address someone directly in a flow through a social channel.

I would love to be able to prepare a social post, similarly to what we can do with an email. The social post asset would enable to define the social media (linkedin, facebook, twitter as a minimum), the message itself, the format, some links, images, ... The message would contain tokens (lead, account, program, ...). The back-office would also enable to declare in the name of whom Marketo would connect to the social network a post. So we would need a "social connection" in the admin section. Then, when defining the post, we would set which "social connection" to use.

Then these posts would be usable in a "Social Post" flow step that typically enable to post a message to someone in a triggered smart campaign.

Once these "Social post" flow steps are created, the activity log would be created and therefore, the "is send social post" trigger and "was sent social post" filter would be made available, with all due constraints.

BtW, this is available in Eloqua, so it should be feasible.

And also, it is probably feasible with webhooks and a third party tool, but I really feel this should be part of Marketo Social Boost product.

Totally agree. We've invested in the social add-ons for the past two years, thinking that enhanced social capabilities would be integrated into the platform (especially since those add-ons we're part of the acquisition of Crowd Factory a few years ago - which also brought Sanjay over).  Our contract is up for renewal in August and this has been flagged as something we will not be renewing.  Just out of curiosity, is there even a product manager that oversees social?

We've done extensive evaluations of what we would build and how. Right now, it's not on the short term roadmap. Other features have been prioritized higher.

Can you elaborate on this please?

Are you suggesting a DM/PM as part of the flow or a public post?

I'm getting confused on "post" as I typically think of these as being not targeted at a given person, but rather an audience or persona.

Not sure as well if you are referencing AdBridge as the "post", or really targeting "this" lead.

You're right, "post" is not necessary the right term. I was thinking more for instance of a message in twitter addressed to someone or mentioning someone.

Example, you come on my website and fill out a form for an e-book. Let's say we have your twitter ID in Marketo. One day later, I could twit something such as "@GeoffKrajeski, have you looked at our #whitepaper on #marketingautomation? Get it there". Or may be I could send you a message in LinkedIn, if I knew your profile.

So the idea is really to target "this" lead with a personalized message. Could be private or public, depending on the Social network and the possibilities.
