Local Token Inheritance within Nested Programs

Local Token Inheritance within Nested Programs

Within a default program, you can nest Email Programs; within an Engagement Program you can nest a variety of program types. However, with Email programs, if you attempt to send an email located in an email program from a smart campaign in the main program, the sent email does not inherit the tokens from the enclosing email program.

I have confirmed this behaivor with email programs nested within default or event programs. I assume the behavior is the same with emails sent by the engagement engine.

Please allow emails sent from a parent program to inherit the local tokens set on the enclosing email program or other nested program.

Big +1 here.  I actually created a support ticket for this, as that's the behavior I expected.

For what it's worth, as a workaround, I setup a Smart Campaign under each sub-folder or program in the tree.  All the Smart Campaign has in it is a "Campaign is Requested" trigger and the flow simply sends the email.  That allows you to launch emails from the folder where you need the tokens to get picked up from, but it is still messy and I have a ton of extra smart campaigns hanging around, only to accomplish this task.

I would think this could be added as additional criteria on the Flow setup for Send Email.  Allow a drop-down selection of which program or campaign folder you would like to use for pulling substitution tokens.

Great idea!  Let's hope we see something on this front, soon!
