If Then Statements for Blocking Updates to Specific Fields

It would be great if we could set up if then statements for fields that we would like to update in certain circumstances. One scenario where this would be beneficial is for updates to Job Title. For those that use picklist values rather than an open text field, there are a limited amount of titles you are providing. If a lead gives a more detailed title, we would want to be able to keep it from being updated due to a future form fill out that will overwrite the accurate value with a more generic one. Ideally in that case, we would be able to customize the field to block updates "If Job Title does not contain [Other]" or "Updated by SFDC" if a Sales Rep got better data on the lead.

Another scenario is where integrated fields may overwrite MKTO collected fields with a blamk value - In such case we only want a field to update if the new value is NOT NULL or blank
