Form insights

I would love to see a way to see the forms our customers fill out at inception, before sync, before anything so that I can compare to how it looks on the other side when it is synced with SFDC, incase there was a hiccup in the sync.  I think this would be especially useful since we have noticed as of late some of this information is not getting pushed to SFDC and only showing in marketo (which is only helpful if one of us goes and looks it up, not for the rep working the lead).  It would be nice if the forms showed up like the emails did for the rep to view if necessary.

Hi Lauren,

This is not needed, and believe me, you really do not need this detailed info in SFDC. Debugging this should be done in Marketo, and as Sanford says, you have all the data there. In other terms, SFDC is not intended to be the debugging console for Marketo

Furthermore, the values captured during the fills out form and the values pushed to SFDC during the sync are 2 different things. These 2 events are separate in time, so many things can happen between the 2 that would make these values different.

Finally, IMHO, it's not a good practice to push tasks in SFDC for anything happens in Marketo, through the sync options. You will soon run out of storage space in SFDC. We have already experienced this with some of our customers.

Thanks, Greg.  That's what I was trying to get at, though perhaps I came on a little strong: using SFDC as an audit trail for itself is technically infeasible, plus more data pushed via the SFDC API is a dangerous thing.

I think a better request would be to query the activity table in Marketo so we could pull in this type of information. For example, I have a real need right now to create a report that shows the exact time forms were filled out. I can't pull this in any way other than to make a smart campaign that tracks the form fill out and then manually pull from the SC. If we could query the activity table it'd solve my problem in a heartbeat.

While I hear what you are saying I fervently disagree.  We want the EXACT values from the form to be what gets pushed to our SFDC record because our forms are assessment requests with specific contact information preferred by the lead requesting the assessment.  With all due respect You and Stanford are completely missing the point.  I think perhaps it would be better to have an actual Marketo individual speak to this instead of you two since it does not appear you understand what I am trying to get at and are simply being counterproductive in nature.

That sounds like a great idea! You may have worded what I was trying to get across in a much better way.  Bottom line what I would like to see is the form in its entirety when filled out both in marketo and then in SFDC so my reps can see what was added to the form and follow up accordingly, much like the way marketo emails show on SFDC.   The reps do not have access to our marketo to see the form contents and it will be too much work for us to go lead by lead and speak rep by rep.

Right, and right now you can see it but you have to manually look up the record in Marketo and compare it.

An alternative would be to create a Note field and populate it with the Marketo fields prior to syncing and then sync it so you get a "Raw Form Response" note in SFDC.

Hi Lauren,

I am sorry to be counterproductive in nature trying to help you and believe me, I will not try again (helping you, of course, as with regards to being counterproductive in nature, I cannot help).

Greg,

I would appreciate the help for a work around, however most of the comments from Sanford, and a few yourself were about how I had incorrectly articulated myself.  I am trying to figure out how to get this information to my reps in a succinct way.  If you have a solution suggestion around that, that would be great. If this solution does not exist then I would still like to see it addressed as an improvement in Marketo.  I am all about lead transparency with my reps, so the more information they can have when working with active leads the better.  Does that perhaps make more sense?

Create a note field in SFDC or in the marketo side?  I am a bit confused what you mean and would love to know more.  thank you!

If you read me correctly, I am not writing you have incorrectly expressed yourself.

I am writing that, IMHO (backed with about 40 Marketo projects I have managed, and as much Salesforce projects), what you are trying to achieve is a bad idea. You are going to create information over-abundance. Sales will never look at this data. They do not even create tasks for their own use, so they surely are not going to open archived tasks buried with tens of others just to look at what the lead entered in the form, which, 95% of the time anyway, will be exactly the same data they can read in the lead (or contact) page layout. Furthermore, if the person only fills out 2 forms in a day, you will have only 1 task in SFDC, with the first values. How are you going to explain the discrepancies to the sales if the lead did not entre the same values in the form (the lead will show the input to the second form, not the first one).

While I am trying to convince you not to waste your time with this, you prefer to think I am wasting your time. You choice.
