Today, when creating a user, the username and the email have to be the same. Once the user has logged in for the first time e/she can change his/her email address.
I just ran an instance migration project when a few tens of users had to be created in the new instance. Problem: their email addresses where used ad user names in the old instance...
We had to ask IT to create a new email address for each them.
The same issue arise when you want to give access to someone to a sandbox.
Please Marketo, enable to set a user name that is different from the email address at user creation!
