Allow for Multiple Branding Domains

Allow for Multiple Branding Domains

With the ability to have separate workspaces, lead partitions, and landing page domain aliases, it really seems to be a major gap that you can not have multiple branding domains on the account to configure with your multiple workspaces. The limitation of one branding domain provides a less than ideal brand experience to the customer, especially if a brand like P&G, GE, etc were to want to use Marketo... I can't see one branding domain working for them.

It would be awesome if the Marketo team adds in the ability to configure multiple branding domains and select those as needed for your various marketing efforts to provide a seamless experience to the customer.

This is an absolute must have for companies with an international reach. domain.com, domain.co.uk and domain.fr are 3 separate domains. without this feature, only 1 of them will have the capability to reconcile anonymous leads with form entries on Marketo lading pages. The others will have either to drop drop this capability or to use embedded forms and loose form prefill and dynamic profiling.

Furthermore, this would create a significant competitive advantage to Marketo for international companies.

My 2 cents

... well, not so much that only 1 of them will have capability, but more like all clickable links will be rewritten to match only 1 domain (unless you use mktoNoTrack).

Hi Sanford,

Let's say you navigate on mydomain.de site and then click on a link mydomain.de/MyMarketoLP.html that redirects to MyDomain.com/MyMarketoLP.html (MyDomain.com being your branding domain), on which you fill out a form. You will have 2 leads in Marketo :

  • 1 anonymous with some activity on MyDomain.de pages
  • 1 known lead with your form entry data and navigation info in MyDomain.com, if you had any.

This is due to the fact that cookies posted in one domain cannot be read in another domain. So you will never be able to reconcile and merge these 2 leads unless you create a form and you embed it in a page on mydomain.de site (where the munchkin code will be able to read the first cookie).

You're mixing up branding domains and landing page domains.

The branding domain is go.example.com, click.example.com, etc. -- the click tracker.  Has nothing to do with cookies, in fact the branding domain sets no cookies.

What you're talking about is "multi-domain Munchkin," which is a different goal/idea and actually is possible with some cool JavaScript, though of course it isn't built-in.

And you think having the capability to support multiple branding domains without multiple landing page domains make sense?

Not at all, but I think we need to be precise about the goal. I opened my own idea about multiple branding domains, in fact.

Would you point it, so that I can vote for it ?
