Anyone done this before on Marketo? Anything to install? Tried pasting basic B/W emoji's, when tested they don't appear....
I tried this as well, but Marketo's email editor strip the emoji from the subject line after you approve the email. Pretty ironic that Marketo wrote a blog post about email marketers finally being able to use emojis in their subject lines (http://blog.marketo.com/2015/05/marketers-rejoice-emoji-marketing-is-here.html ), yet does not allow it themselves!
Hi Alan,
I know! That article is complete irony as you can't really do it...
Really hope they action this soon as a developement.
Hi There,
I recommend using this resource for inserting emojis into Marketo Emails
☂ Symbols — CopyPasteCharacter.com
In every instance I test using these characters, I am able to have them successfully send thru in emails.
Best,
Miles

My results have varied. I've tried numerous sites and searches to find copy and paste imagery and what I've found is that "symbols" work and "emojis" get stripped. Also, interestingly enough. If you add an emoji in the middle of the subject line, it strips the emoji and everything after it on test send.
Same here, Kristen. I still am having a hard time doing it.
As discussed elsewhere: https://www.google.com/amp/blog.teknkl.com/yes-you-can-use-emojis-in-marketo-subject-lines/amp/
I recommend avoiding emojis in subject lines unless you're prepared to have a low engagement rate. Typically special characters in subject lines increase bounces and decrease opens in B2B communications, but if you're in B2C, you might have a different experience.
That's what A/B tests are for (and I disagree with your first sentence being generally applicable).
