Hey Sanford Whiteman - Not sure what you mean. Here's a little more context: It's super odd, when I click the destination URL (as a test - so not in LinkedIn's ad preview or in the "wild" but just the straight coded destination URL), Marketo sees everything correctly. The lists pulls in the right people etc. I've also tested the URL via LinkedIn's ad preview and again, I can't find any issues. Marketo seems to "see" everything OK. Additionally, I see ad traffic via the UTMs in GA. I can look up that destination page and do a Source/Medium report and see traffic coming in via my ad UTMs. It seems to me that this issue of not being able to ID known traffic is occurring in the "wild", when someone on LinkedIn actually clicks our ads. Ever heard of that happening?

Hey All - Was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue. We have a LinkedIn campaign running the UTM parameters in the destination URL. The landing page is a WordPress page with Munchkin code on it, so in theory I should be able to see the "known" people in a smart list. However, when I look them up in Marketo -- using the filter: visited web page with the parameters in the query string I see no results. I know that people are clicking my LinkedIn sponsored content -- I see clicks on the LinkedIn dash. Was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue and if so how you guys were able to get it to work? Have had go rounds with Marketo support where it works fine for them so they're not able to replicate the bug. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi there, I have a question for you all :-) Is it possible to block field updates at a specific user level? I know that you can block field updates at a macro level (for example, block Job Title from all list imports). I was wondering if it was possible to do this at the user level? Thanks all!

Hey Marketo World. Question for you - when you do a list upload and you have data in a certain field, I know that it will automatically over write it - do any of you all have a solution to append the field vs over write it? We get a lot of data post events on .CSVs and I want do upload them however as time goes on the fields I would upload to will fill up and we wouldn't want to erase the prior info. Any thoughts? Anyone dealt with this before? Thanks, -Troy

Hey everyone, Have a question that I'm hoping someone has tackled in the past. I have the following campaign statuses/tags for our live events in Marketo: Invited - 10 Opened - 12 Clicked - 15 Maybe -20 Registered -25 No Show- 30 Attended - 35 Engaged - 40 Declined - 50 Now I'm being asked to add in an additional step - a Phone Follow Up step. My concern is that if I slot that in between Attended and Engaged is that it will throw off all my historical data. Am I right here? If I am is there a best way to add that step in without risking throwing off my historical data? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hey There, I'm sure someone has asked this in the past, however I couldn't find a thread on it, so I figured I'd ask it. My question is this: How Do You Stop 2 Different People from Registering For An Event With The Same Email Address? We get a lot of people who register for our live events who also register a co-worker and they end up using their email address for both. So for example, John & Jeff want to attend. John registers himself using john@awesomeco.com. He then registers his co-worker Jeff and uses John@awesomeco.com. We've noticed that Marketo will override John's name and place Jeff's name in the reg list and in Marketo. So not only will John not show up as being registered anymore but also his name in the DB will be overwritten. We want to stop this. Has anyone else figured out a way to pro-actively stop this from happening? Thanks! -Troy

Hey There Marketo World! I have a question that I'm hoping someone may have an answer to. We currently have purchased the campaign attribution tool, Terminus. One of the many things the tool does, is look at all the campaigns where a member has reached a "Success" status before an opportunity has been created at an account. Because they reached a "Success" status before the opportunity was created, they are then given some attribution. Right now we are using the last modified date in the SFDC campaign object to determine if the person reached a "Success" status before an opportunity is created. We want to change this to a custom field on the campaign member object. I can see this field when I do smart lists in Marketo > member of SFDC Campaign> Add Constraint>It's in that dropdown. However, it looks like I cannot write to this field. Has anyone else run into this? If so, are you aware of a work around?

Hey Sanford Whiteman 1. Thanks for the tip, it's always appreciated. I do have a follow up question for you. It seems that when I attempt to implement your assist, it turns off my PP fields. So I either can move my fields wherever I want on the form and lose the PP option or I can have the PP option, but I lose the ability to move my fields. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? Hey everyone, I have a quick question for you all. If I want to place a rich text field at the bottom of my forms, but I'm using progressive profiling - how is that done? Have any of you done this? What I typically see is that as a person moves through the fields 1 of 2 things happen. 1. If you place the filed above the progressive fields, they will display below it -- not ideas. 2. If you place it at the bottom of the form, it's included in the progressive profile fields and only shows up at the end. Again, not ideal. I've tried placing it as the last field (so in the progressive profile field box) but then using visibility rules to get it to always display. It seems like progressive profiling overwrites the visibility rules. For the visibility rules I tired using something pretty obvious: Display if: First Name Is Empty First Name Is Not Empty Open to any suggestions on how to make this a possibility. Thanks, -Troy

Hey everyone, have a question for you all. In our attempts to get GDPR compliant, I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to display a certain form field based off a person's location, whether they are a customer or not, and if they've already completed the field. For example, if we know that a person is a customer then when they visit our form we hide a GDPR field. Or conversely, if we know they are from Europe and are not a customer we show them a specific GDPR field. I know you can display fields based off other values in forms - for example if you say the territory you're in is N.America I know you can then show a country field with values of USA, CAN, MEX, however it looks like you can't combine things like this. For example: not customer and in Europe, then show field. Am I missing something? Can this be done? To do this, are we looking at something like site personalization? Any ideas you guys have would be much appreciated. Thanks, -Troy

Hey fellow Maketo peeps - I was wondering if any of you have dealt with the following scenario: We have a person in Marketo, let's call him Dave Smoot. Dave works at Intel. We have him in our Marketo instance with email address dsmoot@intel.com. The Activity log indicates that mails are delivered successfully and he opens mails, clicks on links -- so the email address is valid and active. We then get his name from a tradeshow list that has a different email address tied to it: dave.smoot@intel.com (for argument's sake). Dave monitors this mail too and opens mails etc... So again it looks like a good and active email address. My question to you all is this: how do you deal with multiple entries of good email addresses? We don't necessarily want to merge the 2 email addresses as they are both valid. But if there was a way for them to both be tied to the same person (so we don't double mail the guy, for example) that'd be super helpful. It doesn't look like Marketo has a nested feature (like account hierarchies in SFDC) but then again maybe I'm missing something. Anyways, would love to hear your suggestions! Thanks.

The web page isn't a marketo page. It's a WordPress page tagged with Minchkin code. Could that be impacting this? Hey Sanford Whiteman, The UTM-Tags do function as a means for us to determine the referral. So, to answer your question yes - it does distinguish it from other visits to the same page. The page experience is the same, but from a reporting view it allows us to track it back to the ad. Basically using UTM_Source/UTM_Medium to track referrals. To answer your part 2 question: no. Each set of visits to the page contain different UTM tags. Again, it's done so that we can ID the starting point (basically what ad drove the click). We could add additional query string parameters nothing is stopping us there. I'm not sure how using different query string parameters would help, but I guess we could do that too. -Troy

Hey everyone, Have a question for you all. We are getting ready to run a print ad. In the print ad, there is a URL that someone can type in. www.ABCcompany.com/AD (for example). When they click it, it redirects to a Google UTM URL. We configured this URL so that we can track that click back to the paid print ad. Here's my question: Is it possible to run a report in Marketo to show us the actual people who typed in that ad? If we use my www.ABCcompany.com/AD example. Say I type that in and I'm known to ABCcompany's Marketo. Is there a way we can pull a report that says "Troy" clicked that link? I've reached out to support and haven't had much luck, so was hoping that someone here may know a bit more.... Thanks, -Troy

Quick follow up question - and I could be making this up, but I thought there was a similar report that showed opportunities to programs but was able to be calculated without that field being filled. For example, it would run it based off the account, not the contacts. If such a thing doesn't exist then so be it, but I thought something like that was possible but I can't find it in Adv Reporting...

Hey everyone, Just a quick question for the world out there: in the Advanced Reporting Module, when you run a Program Opportunity Analysis Report - how is the # of Opportunities Associated with Program data calculated? Obviously if pulls that in from SFDC, my question is does anyone know what it looks for in SFDC. I have a suspicion that when our organization creates opportunities we're not doing enough to tie them back to program/people etc...So if anyone knows what this looks for / what is needed in SFDC to make sure it's accurate it would be much appreciated. Hey everyone, Quick question for you all: Will the Program Performance Report pick up and report on Operational Programs. I was thinking about using them as a way to "roll up" all the events we do at a trade show. That way we'd have an operational "master" program that would show us the number of people we touched across the various events at a trade show. I figured that this would be a good example to use an operational program because I'm just looking to mark people as "members" and add in the cost, so I can see at a higher level the total number of people we interacted with and the cost associated with that. Curious though if I'll be able to see the same reporting that I would for a "Trade Show" or "Live" event program in the Program Performance Report. Any one tried this before? Thanks! -Troy

Hey There Fellow Marketo-ers! I have a question for you all. We run an annual user group conference. Existing customers are given 2 free tickets to attend. We assign a person at a customer Account as a "VIP". (The VIP is basically the person with a promo code allowing for the 2 free tickets). What we'd like to do is assign a person as a VIP on a customer Account Object in SFDC. Then, we can use tokens to auto-generate that VIP person's name in mails that we send out to other contacts in that Account. Basically saying reach out to your VIP at your company if you want to attend and use the free ticket you are allotted. Last year we did this by assigning the VIP with the SFDC contact ID of that person and then creating a formula to pull in the actual name of the person that we would use as the token field in marketing emails. However, updating this didn't seem to work in Marketo. I reached out to support and got a response that formula fields on the Account Object in SFDC don't sync with Marketo - thus sometimes we'd update this in SFDC and resend mails, but the token in those mails was the old, un-updated VIP person. My question to you all is this: Is there a way where we can pull this off with the bi-directional sync? That way we can update the VIPs and resend mail to that account with the appropriate person being populated in the token? Thanks, -Troy

Quick question for anyone: Trying to send a webinar confirmation mail with an Outlook, iCal, and Google Calendar reminder. Outlook and iCal work fine by using the ics tokens. I've noticed that Google calendar isn't as friendly. Found an old ticket that lays out how to create a Google Calendar event and token-ize it. Super helpful. However one of the cool things that you can do using the ics token is that you can dynamically create that an attendee's WebEx URL in the Outlook invite. That way they have it all in one place. I'm not really having the same luck with this in Google Calendar. I think it's may be because I'm using regular text tokens. When I incorporate the webinar url token inside the plain text token that will eventually populate the Google Calendar description it fails. Has anyone had any luck with this/ found out if this is even possible? Thanks!
