I have a form that if submitted triggers an email, but am seeing be big drop-off between the # of uniques filling out a form and # of uniques getting sent an email. Am trying to figure out if its a data definition issue or a real problem with the emails not being sent.
It doesn't count errors but successful submissions. And it doesn't just count browser clicks on a Submit button because (a) those Clicked Link on Web Page events might not ever get to Marketo, as that would require Munchkin (Forms don't require Munchkin to be loaded); and (b) those clicks can represent attempts to submit invalid data.
It sounds to me like you've got some other filter on the flow.
How are you tracking the form submissions and the emails sent? If both are from Marketo using the Fills out Form trigger/filter and Email was sent filter, and they are different, it may be due to leads having their Unsubscribed, Marketing Suspended, Email Suspended, Blacklisted or Email Invalid field values set to 'true'. If that does not explain it, then there is some other issue, which you may want to explore with Marketo tech support.
Thanks all -- using Marketo triggers/filters for Fills Out Form and Email Was Sent -- and they are returning different results. Have discovered that a Smart List using Email Was Sent returns different results from the Email Performance Reports (using the same criteria). Will open up a Marketo ticket to investigate.
Jackson, one other thing to consider if you are including multiple emails in your smart list and Email Performance reports - the total in the Email Performance reports is the number of emails sent and the total in the smart list is the number of leads that were sent one or more of the emails. In this scenario, the amount in the Email Performance reports will most likely be larger than in the smart list.
