Re: Tracking Tokens

Hi all,

I've come across several articles (such as this one here: Can you use URLs in Tokens? YES - here's how. ) discussing how to properly use URLs in plain text tokens so that they can be tracked and show up in reporting.

I'm using rich text tokens where I edit the text color, text size, and overall style for usually 1 or 2 words that have a URL applied to it.

Is there anything to keep in mind from a reporting or tracking standpoint with rich text tokens described above?

Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom,

I am afraid that a rich text token will not be detected as a URL by Marketo and therefore link click will not be tracked. Marketo needs to see "" or "" in the raw code of the LP or the email (raw meaning before token is replaced by its value) in order to track it.

I changed them back to plain text tokens and followed directions listed in article I referenced in original post.  Thanks!

Do I make the edit in the text section in the body of the email or in the html section of the rich text editor- HTML source editor?
