Hello all,
There was a lot of chatter out there about this before marketo switched community platforms and the links are now dead. I replied to a couple fo strings, but they may be dead also.
So....lets get a new one going! 🙂
How do you track embedded you tube video views on a landing page?
When you look at the activity log for a lead that did view one, there is no mention of the activity at all. It is like it never happened.
I do not have the option of using wystia or vimeo or vidyard right now. Need to do it all in marketo.
Thanks,
RM

Hello,
Here is a great article that shows you how to do it with just youtube.

Try this thread which just appeared;
Is it possible to track individuals who have clicked on embedded Youtube video?
The easy answer is Vidyard, however, if you do a search, there are probably threads on how to do this yourself with javascript.

FYI... the YouTube demo link from this discussion has more robust functionality than the one in that blog post, including the ability to track people who watched for 10s, 30s, etc. It also uses the more modern Munchkin API. Between the two you should be able to build (and understand!) something powerful.
You can also do this with Wistia. We just built a custom integration for a client and they can now see percentage of videos watched in 5% intervals.
I've had great success using Vidyard.
Here's a Launchpoint webinar I did about that: More Clicks, More Customers: Drive ROI with Video and Marketing Automation – Marketo.com
You could theoretically get similar results with Sanford's YouTube method. Vidyard does make it easy though and has some additional functionality to do email gating, calls to action, etc.
