Telecom companies part of our site traffic?

Hello! Very new to Marketo and have an "inferred company question."  A large part of our BD efforts include telecom companies- we are seeing some web traffic coming from telecom but wondering if this is a part of our efforts or if the view Marketo provides means that these are just cable/internet providers labeled as a "cover" for unknown IP's?

Thanks in advance!

i suspect most of it is from ISPs, not actual telecom buyers you want to target. Reverse IP lookup is not super accurate.

We want to target the telecom companies in our ABM campaigns but how to identify if the visitor is staff vs other users using those telecom services?

With Marketo's limited capabilities? Hard to say. Many telecoms firms use diff IPs and domains for their corp staff vs. customers.

So there is no way to identify it from the organization name/company name appearing in reports.

You probably need to infer it from known traffic.  If you have leads in your database that have filled out forms and identified themselves as employees of Telecom companies then you can possibly get some details from their lead records of how their IP lookups look.

So this is a challenging area. Let's say you do have the identification domains and possibly inferred location and some IPs. How accurate will that be in Inferred Company Name?
