Speed of Populating a Segment vs a Field?

Does anyone know (and perhaps it varies) which is faster when a new lead comes in - populating a field vs adding the lead to a segment? Note that I'm talking about a field that is NOT on a form. E.g., would it be faster to populate a checkbox field called GDPR Country that populates whenever a new lead is created with Country = an EU country (or if Country changes to an EU Country) - or faster to add the person to a GDPR segment?

Generally I think the field would be populated faster than the segment.

I don't know why you'd draw that conclusion as segments are assigned at New Lead, based on initial data values, and a Change Data Value by definition happens (just) after that event.

But I would suspect there is no practical difference.

Denise Greenberg - Do consider that a lead can not be a part of multiple segments at a time. Though, we have experienced that the processing is faster for a segment v/s a smart list.
