Social Media Tracking on Marketo Landing Pages

Hello Everyone,

We're in the process of integrating the Marketo’s social media tracking into our Marketing efforts. We’re really struggling to find an effective way to track users who visit our Marketo landing pages from social media, and who inturn register to our webcasts by filling the form on the LP

Currently, we have implemented the basic social media sharing buttons on our landing pages. But, we want to track to see how many users are actually registering in our Marketo form through various social media sites on which we promote.

The basic social media buttons, that we implemented on the landing pages is just to share the landing pages. But, we are looking for a mechanism to see how many users are coming through from social media, how many are registering etc., Please suggest how we can implement the tracking system suiting to our needs.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Social Media Tracking on Marketo Landing Pages

Raghav,

You can use unique URL parameters for your landing page URL whenever you post the link to sites. For example:

http://go.example.com/landingpage.html?source=twitter&medium=social+media

Then create hidden fields on your form to capture this information, and put it into fields in Marketo. Then you can run a report to see your sources.

Re: Social Media Tracking on Marketo Landing Pages

You need to setup URL parameters to track the inbound clicks from things you share on Social.

For example, GA tends to do this for you, but it doesn't stamp the lead with this detail, so you need to do something like this:

http://info.yoursite.com/page.html?source=linkedin&campaign=mystuff

The Marketo Form needs to have two fields that are hidden:

Source
Campaign

that are tied to those URL parameters

And that will stamp the lead properly.

It gets more complicated if you want it to.

Re: Social Media Tracking on Marketo Landing Pages

Josh - So from what you're saying, we'd need to create seperate forms for each registration event....

...That doesn't sound very scalable, which is why I am thinking there is something I am not understanding. Thanks for your feedback.
