Smart list: Removing anyone with an open opportunity on the account

I have a list of folks that I received from a program. I want to send these leads over to our sale reps, but I want to make there are no open opportunities tied to their accounts. Is there a clean way to do this within a smart list? I believe the 'Has Opportunity' filter is what I need... but I think this only checks the opportunities on the contact and not the account, correct?

You can do this in SFDC. On the account, create a roll-up summary field. You can summarize the count of open opportunities. We call ours "# of open opportunities"

Then in Marketo, filter for # of open opportunities is less than 1.

This way, it won't matter if the contact has a role on the opportunity itself.

Thanks, Delinda.

That's a good way to look at it. I will talk to my SFDC admin to see if we can get this set up.

Yes, that's correct. Has Opportunity is based on Contact Role.

So if you are enforcing Contact Role, great go ahead and use it. If not, then you won't be 100% sure if the Account doesn't have an Opp.
