Sending an email from a sliced jpeg

Hello,

I sliced a jpeg in photoshop, uploaded the slices to Marketo, placed the html into an email and sent multiple tests to different email clients. I also checked the html in Dreamweaver. Everything seems to be fine, but once sent, the email shows up with gaps in between each slice. This doesn't happen when I send the email from any source other than Marketo. Why is this happening and is there anyway to fix it?

Re: Sending an email from a sliced jpeg

I've run into this before.

Add this into any of your image tags:

style="display:block"

Sometimes email clients add spacing to images, that code tells them to leave the image alone.

Mike,

I've never heard of a sliced jpeg or how you are adding it to the email. Can you post screenshots or html code?

How are you loading this into Marketo? Are you using Replace HTML?

Re: Sending an email from a sliced jpeg

I would highly discourage you from using images as your sole email content.  Not only does this approach severely affect your deliverability rates (since most spam prevention filters use a ratio of images to text as a basis), but those that don't have images turned on, will not see your email content.  I don't know if this is the approach you're using, but just thought I'd provide some insight if you are.

Can you post the code as Josh mentioned? Otherwise, I am not sure what you're trying to do. I can let you know what is happening.

Re: Sending an email from a sliced jpeg

Dan's point is very true.

Now, usually this happens when you email template is missing some html and/or css code to tell it not to add borders and space between cells.

Typically : border:none; padding:0;margin: 0; border-spacing: 0

Re: Sending an email from a sliced jpeg

Thanks for your responses.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with Dan as well. It was the practice of my company to send all emails this way until my coworker and I convinced them to stop, which is why we invested in Marketo. Unfortunately, with this email, I am stuck between a rock and a hard place and don't have an option.

Thanks for your help everyone

Ok, how does it look in other platforms. Can you post screenshots.

There's also an extra </div> in there...

Re: Sending an email from a sliced jpeg

Unless I'm missing something I can't seem to reproduce this issue. Can you post a screenshot of how you are expecting this email to look? I sent it to myself and it seems to like the way you want it to.

Re: Sending an email from a sliced jpeg

This is how I receive it in tests and when I send it out through an actual program. As you can see there are a few gaps and shifts.
