Segments and Snippets

What is the difference between using a segment or a snippet when creating dynamic content? Is there a beneift to using one over the other?

Also, what about in the email content, when you are editing a draft, and on the right hand side there are segments.You can drag those down into the dynamic area to make dynamic content. What's the difference between doing that and using a snippet?

Josh has it exactly right. We use segments for all of our language settings. These segments can be used with dynamic content or snippets to customize the messaging based on the segment. - Jeff

I believe segements are like the different groups you are targetting and the snippets are the content you are using for each of those different groups.  

So if it was based on geography, you might have a segment for the US and a specific snippet that you would use for that location.  

You might have another segment for Candada, with a different snippet.
